(In the previous discussion header I wrote "Who" when I ment "How" and I really am dyslexic... this is proof that I'm tired...) Anyway, with one of the American Nations meetings Obama has been both praised and condemned for suggesting a lifting of sanctions on Cuba, subject to conditions... I've been too busy with life to learn on how things are playing out so this is a fact finding missing. Is anyone keeping abreast of this point in history? Steve Slaton

I guess I've watched a smidgen more than you. Obama in an "Americas" leaders meeting publicly stated his willingness to lift Cuban sanctions along with his conditions...

On this one, I have to agree with President Obama. I think they SHOULD lift the sanctions against Cuba. I hear the complaints that Cuba is Communist, But has anyone checked the status of COMMUNIST CHINA, Communist Vietnam, and a lot of other tyranical Govts we are presently dealing with and spending all our money on? I think it is time for Castro to go, and so I understand, his Brother Raul is making some changes, but as long as the economic situation is so desperate for the common people in Cuba, corruption and crime are going to exist. People will do what they have to, to live...Cuban, Communist, or otherwise... The ORIGINAL Problem was Cuba's alignment with a COMMUNIST Soviet Govt., but that has changed and we SURE are doing a lot of business with our former advisary(Russia). I think the reason a lot of Washington Bureaucrats have been against the Castro Govt. is that they were long in cahoots with the former CORRUPT Batista Govt.(which Castro overthrew)...and our CORRUPT Politicians LOST MONEY... I remember all the crying and wailing about how the Iraqi people were suffering under Saddam Hussein, and they were, and so many wanted to do something about it, but much of the world is still turning a blind eye to the fact the Cuban people have suffered for years now, and its time for change.
