HI, I've wasted time on the phone....does anyone know here for sure if today we can still use the "forever stamps" or do we have to now put another 2 cents with the forever stamps? Thanks

You do not have to put a 2-cent stamp with the forever stamp. That is why they are called "forever" stamps. This was the whole basis of the postal service selling the stamps. It was really a good marketing strategy for the post office to sell a lot of stamps really quickly. They increased the postage rate a few times, then sold the "forever" stamps at the increased price. It worked because the post office kept saying that the postage rates were going to go up again. People bought the forever stamp in an effort to avoid paying the higher rates. However, I the rate has been increased very little (if any at all) since the forever stamps were sold. Obviously, the postage rate increases and the "forever" stamp were all part of a plan by the postal service to make some money.

HI, Thanks a million!! My forever stamps were the first that were ever made...I got confused as I thought on TV News or in paper it said something to imply I would need to add 2 cents now.

You can still use the "forever" stamps. That's the whole point of them. Happy Posting!!

That's the whole point of a "forever" stamp. It is still good even though postage rates went up. I think that's why they made them because it was frustrating to have just purchased a book of stamps then to have to go back and get more two cent stamps on top of that!
