Many people think of the biggest water falls as the Niagara Falls. It´s not true. The biggest falls are in the frontier of three countries in South America: Brasil, Argentina and Paraguay. The Falls (Iguazu, a guarani name) are awesome. You are moved by the beauty of nature. And then, in the same place, you are able to see another wonder, this time manmade:the longest operational hydroelectric power plant in the world (Itaipu). Both are due to the Parana river. So many times people go over and over afgain to the same places because they don´t know that there are other wonders to see. Have you been To the Iguazu falls? Have you opened your eyes in awe looking at the dam of Itaipu?

I have only seen small waterfalls that are not famous in my life so far. I have seen a lovely waterfall in Northland in New Zealand and some stunning little waterfalls in Samoa. In Queensland in Australia I enjoyed bathing under a cool waterfall and swimming in the crystal clear pool of water. South America is right at the top of my travel wish list. I would so very much love to see the Iguazu Falls. They sound dramatic and must be an incredibly special sight my friend. Hug.

No, I have never been there, but they do sound beautiful. It is so amazing that something that strong can not destroy itself over the years. As with Niagara Falls, i think the erosion has just made for a more dramatic effect to the falls. You wonder how long they have actually been there.

I have never been to South America at all. I can only imagine how amazing that would be to see. It sounds pretty awesome. I do love water falls. I have seen several different ones in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Many of them are quite beautiful. For some of them, you can even hike up a trail next to the falls. I havent even been to Niagara yet. My husband and I are headed there this summer. Maybe after seeing Niagara, I will be able to convince him that we should head to South America. (Right now, he doesnt want to go to South America at all. I think it would be amazing.)
