I watched two or three movies with such ends. For example the end of the new Halloween movie. Micheal Myers suddenly takes his sister and falls of the balcony and then something happens and end of the movie. So then what happens to the sister. It is left to people's imagination.
And I am not talking of ends which are made keeping in mind a link to make a sequel.
These you take it the way you want ends come as a disappointment to me. I want it to end with some finality. Not left to my imagination, take it the way you want type. What do you think?

The Halloween Movies have almost become a cliche of Sequel after sequel..the producers probably wanted to leave the door open at the end just in case the movie became popular enough that further sequels would be worth making at some point in the Future!
