Today as I stopped by the sore I seen they had a bunch of plants out in front, so I stopped to see what they was selling, they had brussel sprouts, so I got one, I have never bought or tried to grow brussel sprouts but hey I am going to give it a try, last week I planted broccoli and so I thought I would try this too. Has anyone grown this before and can give me some tips?

I haven't grown them, but I did buy a final stalk at the end of the season. They grow way differently than I thought. When I try something new, in addition to asking people who have grown it on Mylot, I do a search such as:
Cooperative Extension brussel sprouts
or
Cooperative Extension how to grow brussel sprouts
and read what they have about it.
They really are a very big help.

I've never grown them before but I know one tip I can give you. As the plant grows, the little brussels sprouts will grow between a leaf and the stem. You'll want to cut off the lower leaves as the plant gets taller, to let enough sunlight get to the little sprouts. As more sprouts begin to form, cut off the leaves below them.
That's all I can tell you. I've never grown them but have always wanted to. I actually bought the seeds this year to start my own but, since life here is in an almost constant state of uncertainty, I've barely planted anything so far. I really do need to get outside and at least get the plants I've started planted outside.
Good luck with your brussels sprouts!

I grew brussels sprouts last year for the first time. About the only thing I can tell you is that they take a long time before they're ready for harvest. I read (after I'd harvested them) that they're better after a light frost. The plants get pretty big, so give them room to grow. They seemed to grow just fine; I didn't do anything special for them.
