It looks like nothing can stop Manny Pacquiao from winning boxing matches, making new records, gaining more honors and having government positions. In his recent visit to Malacanang Palace, Manny is designated as Ambassador of Peace and Unity and is now assigned at the Department of Justice as special assistant on intelligence matters. Nobody doubts that Manny is rightfully posted as Ambassador of Peace and Unity. However, what about the second position assigned to him? What does the assistant on intelligence matters really does?

Yeah its just proves how desperate this government is from gaining popularity from Pacman. Well I really think if they give those special position in the government that they will make good used of him to really function as what they assigned him and not use him because he is popular.

Oh, so the government is really desperate now to want to win the sympathy of Manny's followers? Do you think this ploy will work? I can't see how Manny can jibe into any position in the justice department. What will he be doing in such office? Is he not more suited to be in the government's sports or gambling agencies? Or maybe in the social welfare department?

Then they could have give more appropriate title if he is to be use for promotion purposes. Assistant to the secretary seem an administrative position.

I really don't get why the authority or the people behind these big departments choose or even consider Manny Pacquiao as one of their members. I don't have anything against Pacquiao or his abilities besides his boxing skills, but don't you guys think that there are other people who deserve such position/s more than Pacquiao does? MP can easily do anything charitable/politically-connected activities without being positioned to such departments 'coz he has the moolah and the guts to do it.

I agree with you and @shomaker16 that if they really need someone in DOJ to help the secretary, then the government should get one suited for such position.

yes, i wonder also why he was made as DOj's assistant. i like him as the ambassador of peace because everytime he has the match, everyone in the world stops from doing something bad. the government should expalin why such assignments are given to PAcquiao. he has more than money, attention and all. why not give others a chance, too?

I won't contest Manny being an ambassador of Peace and Unity because he surely is the sole person that can bring the Philippines to a standstill. But Assistant on Intelligence matters? I don't think that is an intelligent choice from whoever thought that as a good idea. Or probably for the sake of justice, they may present why he was chosen for such designation so that the people can be cleared of their boggled mind.

I don't think they will ever clarify the position. Because, the more they will do so, the more will it be exposed that they just made this move to use the popularity of Manny to give some luster to DOJ's battered image.
