False news (Propaganda) travels faster than anything you can think of. In one of the African countries, fresh graduates are posted to another state different from his own state for a one year national service. During my national service program, I was posted to one of the states located in the coastal areas. The inhabitants of the state are not comfortable due to the activities of militants and armed robbers. When the activities of the militants became so unbearable, we were ordered to leave the place till peaceful atmosphere returns. Immediately we returned after a two weeks leave, we had a rumour that 28 of our female colleagues was rapped, while non of us (both male and female) were in town. Within 24hrs, the news was all over the national newspapers. Does it that journalists doesn't verify facts before they publish? Have you had a similar experience? Let's share.

Never, i shall never believe what i hear before i have confirmed the truth about the matter. I remember well the day when i hear that my father was a robber and i was sure about that due to talks of people. Then after realizing that this was not true, people were just jealous of my father, i felt guilty for believing what i heard from these people. Then, i decided i shall never believe what i hear before i have known everything. In any cases, people gossips should be ignored...

Eweniks, beleiving everything you hear?, No, I do not. I need facts before something the tells me can be consider a sicense fact. Depending on what you hear of course....gossip...I never beleive in...that is crap...nothing to bother your poor ears with. But things you read in papers, books,...those stuff need facts in order to be believed in. You have to value what you read and hear...have some criticism. You can not beleive everything you hear....than nothing would be wrong...and the world would be a very very great place to be in...

I quite agree with you, anything to be published has to be properly screened before it's finally released. Thanks for your response.

No, I don't think that we should believe everything that we hear, as I don't think that everything that we're told is actually true. We hear so many things, we're told so many things that I really don't think that it's possible that everything that we're told are true. I don't believe that much. Some of the things that we're told are true, yes, that much I am ready to believe. But no way I am going to believe that everything we hear is true.

hi well i dont believe all the things which i hear because ,some times our own ears may cheat us,we may not know the truth and we may just judge basing on the gossips. so just dont trust the things which we hear.ofcourse there some journalists who fake the news, just to keep up their jobs or to increase their channel ratings, they publish fake news. bye

Absolutely not! No-one should believe everything they read or hear. Whether it's because of a misunderstanding or because of deliberate misinformation, there is a lot of false information about. And what's worse is that lies tend to spread much more quickly than the truth. You should always consider why someone would want to present information in a particular way, you should always consider whether the source has been relaible before, and, if possible, you should try to get information checked from more than one source. To answer your specific question, journalists should always check their facts before they publish, but the fact is they don't always do so: sometimes they just take someone's word for it; on other occasions, they just make things up.

We should defenitely verify any news before we believe it, rumours have a penchant for flying tick and fast.. at times the truth can be exaggerated and twisted to such an extent that by the time it passes on to six or seven people down the chain, it becomes completely different from what was originally told. There is a management game that explains this. A person is told a news in secret, he passes it on to the next person in secret, who announces it to the group. This person now tells this to another person who is not a person in this group, who again tells it to the group and so on... with every transmission the group gets to hear something different and by the time the chain gets 6 to 7 people long, what is told in the beginning gets completely lost!

I agree with you. Truth can be exaggerated to the extent it becomes false. Also a secrete is no more a secrete when passes to more than two people. It keeps developing wings as it passes on. Thanks for your contribution.

I never fully believe anything I hear, no matter what the source! I always do thorough research and even after that, I am still skeptical! People just can't be trusted nowadays....they will say anything in order to gain a buck or make themselves look good!

Hey ! It is so easy to believe what we hear , and sometime we even hear it from a friend which makes us assume there is truth in there . I always like to have the facts and its simple to find out before we just believe (that is on an impotant matter ) Who knows how things change from mouth to mouth . I know most rumors are so false and the person usually is the opposite ya know . Anyway ! take care that is just ugly in what you wrote about what was said oh and yes kinda happens to us all . For me back in high school . and even now many assume about me .

I don't have a similar experience like you Eweniks. But i saw many reporters or journalists only put their speculations on news. Many of them only think about getting any news as fast they can, before they get over by their rival (reporter&journalist). They forgot to keep their reputations and misleads the public view.

No you should not believe everything you hear, you will need to do is to make research and examine what he/she said before you can prove that he/she said is true, hearing is the most fastest than talking whether true or not.

i dont think one should believe everything one hears , there should be a way to filter everything and only belief what is real, anything that is not real should be investigated and researched to get the best possible and real information
