I use paper plates for dining sometimes, becuse you can just throw them away or recycle them when your done using them, and you dont have to wash them, honestly sometimes I just dont feel like washing the dishes or even loading the dish washer so its nice to be able to just get rid of the plate after your done lol How about you paper plates or regular plates for dinning?

Hi apples, I know it’s not friendly to the environment if using paper plates and cups. For the purpose and to keep our environment healthy and safety, I always try my best not to use the paper tableware. As what I know lots of trees are cut down just for the manufacture of paper products. I have to use paper plates only during the Chinese New Year family gathering. Yeah during this annual happy festive occasion we need lots of plates to serve the foods. We don’t have sufficient porcelain plates for the guests, so some extra paper plates have to stand by during the gathering. Happy posting

Well! It’s really good to use paper plates that have been recycled. Yeah, in this way, you have done the good deed to take good care of the environment as well

I for sure use paper plates. I don't feel like doing the dishes, especially after a long day at work, playing with my daughter and then cooking dinner. I'd rather just throw it away and forget about it. It's easier to use paper plates when hosting a party. It would not be fun to do all those dishes after having a party.

Yea I also dislike, washing a bunch of dishes at the end of the day so sometimes I just use paper plates instead of getting all my good dishes dirty.

Personally I think overall it depends on the situation. If you are having guests depending on how often they come over, or what the occassion might be, then I would say paper is the Best for sure. I know there are many times where we have chosen paper over regular plates, and overall, I feel there is nothing wrong with that for sure. It can be a lot cheaper sometimes to do it that way, and more convenient at times as well.

i always use regular plate when eating... i never use paper plate before... i only live with my hubby and there are only two of us... so there is no problem at all in washing our dishes after eating... we happily do it... and it doesn't take a long time as well... as long as we are happy doing something, all tasks will become much easier... take care and have a nice day...

I think that it could be a cultural difference in how we do things in different countries. when I visit friends in the USA I was so surprised at first that they served a meal with paper plates. I would never do this in my adopted country or in my birth country. It would appear to be disrespectful that I did not care to set a 'proper table' for them. I only have a stock of papper plates and disposable coffee cups and drinking cups and plastic utensils to use in the hurricane season when we may be without water or electricity. I also have a supply of timmed food to cover these times in case the road is blocked and I cannot reach any shops to buy food.

I don't think we've ever used paper plates in 9 years of being together. At the same time, my Mom uses them all the time and the only time she uses real dishes is for holidays. Personally I prefer the real ones. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I prefer to use my regular plates for dinning. I prefer not to spend extra expenses buying paper plates for dinning. But, i do buy paper plates and cups for party use when i open a party at my house. It's very tiring when you are to wash all the party plates and utensils..

yes,I agree with you myfb!buying paper plates needs money and it's not worth when there is just 2 persons stay in a house!so I prefer to use regular plates.but if I'm having a party is a different thing of course.I'm not dare to wash that amount of plates and cups!

I never use paper plates unless I'm eating outside or at a picnic. This seems wasteful to me. We only have so many resources. Why would anyone opt to use paper plates as a regular alternative to reusable, normal ones? Besides which, you don't know what sort of chemicals they dose the plates with. You could cancer in twenty years and then what?

Yes we do. Not often but yes. I mostly use paper plates for lunch because its easier to get rid of. But I guess its bad for the environment to use them so I guess we shouldnt use them much unless you recycle. I hear not using them is better but still I do agree I use them at least for lunch and sometimes dinner. Sometimes its easier but if you wash it its better too. What do you think?

I use the paper plates and cups very often, because I just don't want to wash my plates or cups```but sometimes because I forgot to bring my bowl and the paper bowls are convenient. After that, I usually feel guilty.

Hello, I love the idea of using paper plates, I normally use two plates to make the paper plate a little stronger so no food or drippings from the food will fall through. I think using paper plates are a great help,so when those times come along when you are sick or just don't feel like washing dishes. Latley I have not been using paper plates, but afetr reading this disscussion i will have to look into purchasing more. Happy My lotting!

We use regular plates in the house when it is just me and my roommates because we take turn on doing the dishes, but whenever we have a party or barbecue we go for paper plates. The only reason being that we only have regular plates for the 5 of us. I read how many people who responded to the discussion pointed out the importance of saving trees. You might not be saving a lot of them but at least you do something rather than nothing.

I continuously use paper plates because I don't have to wash them. I also use paper forks and spoons as well as paper cups. I don't exactly recycle but I'm lazy.

I usually use paper plates, more than regular plates, just because I'm a lazy person and it's usually a better option to just throw them out instead of cleaning them. I know that's not the best thing for the environment, and it makes me feel like a jerk, but sometimes a lazy person has to do what a lazy person has to do.

I guess my family is just lazy because we have always used paper plates. If we run out of paper plates it is a cotastrophe. lol. The only time we use "real" plates is when we have company over.

Hi apples99, when I am in a big hurry I will use paper plates instead of regular plates so I won't have much clean up work to do after dinner. I know of some people who do not like using paper plates but I have no problem expecially when it saves time on cleaning.

I will be using alot of paper plates now that summer is coming and we will be having cookouts. In the winter I don't bother with them unless the grandchildren are over and I may make them a sandwich and put it on a paper plate with some chips. Otherwise I use regular plates as they are not so much to wash in the winter time. My husband will use the heavy duty paper plates, but he does not like the styrofoam ones to eat off of. If the food is really hot it melts into the styrofoam and then the food tastes bad. So I always but the heavy duty paper plates and they seem to hold up the best. flutterby

Yeah there have been times where my mom has pretty much made us use paper plates because she get's tired of washing the dishes. And if you think about it it will save a lot of water if you don't have to wash all those dishes. But if it comes down to which one I prefer I would have to say regular plates over paper plates. There is always the question of durabilitly, and size comes into play sometimes again.

I use paper plates all the time, because I have a daughter at home and I'm afride she might break it and she might get cut so it's more safer for me to use a paper plate plus it's less clean up you can just throw it away.
