Are you afraid of growing old?

Most people either fear or not fear death. But what about growing old? Are you afraid that you'll one day look in the mirror and see that the youthful face you have once gazed at is replaced by a wrinkled old person? Or the athleticism you had when you were young is gone and in its place, you are walking with a stick in your hand?

Hey, Yea I actually I am quite afraid of growing old, mainly because I do not want to be like them old people who look and act weird. One time I saw an old lady and man talking to them self, I do NOT want to turn out like that. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

for me i am not afraid of getting old anyway all of us will grow old, being old means you already have your time you already give your share to humanity and you already serve your purpose of living.

Ha - I'm 47 so I've forgotten what it feels like to look in the mirror and see a youthful face! To be honest it actually doesn't bother me. What bothers me more is the fact that physically I'm not as fit as I used to be. That's my own fault of course, there are lots of people my age and older who are still as fit and healthy as a teenager. If I worked at it I'm sure I would be able to rectify the situation but I've never been a big fan of exercising! One day I will get my act together. I'm not afraid of growing old though. Why waste time and energy being afraid of something you can't change? And it has it's advantages - generally I'm a much happier and more contented person now than I was when I was in my twenties and thirties. Hopefully life will be even better when I'm in my fifties and sixties and beyond!

Hm...i've seldom think of this, and have never imagine how will i be when i get old, haha. Perhaps it's now to think about it. I think i'll be sort of afraid of growing old too. At that time i'll not be able to walk around actively or going here and there freely. I don't know whether i'll have any disease or old man illness or what. I don't know whether i'll still have enough money to spend at that time to spend my remaining life, haaha. I don't know whether my son or daughter will be able to take care of me or will just dump be to old folks home? Oh that's really lots of uncertainties. Anyway, i think i'll just live everyday to the fullest as i can and be happy always. Let's only think about it when the time comes, haha.

As a young lady I haven't been afraid of growing old before I was not aged 30 years old. But as time goes by, I am a little bit afraid of being old. I become to afraid of hearing about these kind of questions such as age. But I think that as long as I maintain young attitude in my heart and I will not be old forever.

I'm not afraid of it, it's a natural thing. But I won't just stop living either. I'll keep going and doing things as long as the good Lord allows me too. And I won't be doing it alone, I'm getting married in September and we plan on growing old together. The wrinkles will not only be caused by age, but they are the laugh lines that show that for the most part I learned it's better to laugh than to cry. As for walking with a 'stick' in my hand, somehow I imagine I will need that at sometime in the future. I have spent the last 11 years chasing wildland fires, and I'm still a wildland firefighter today, and for more years to come. So with hiking in rough terrain, keeping my footing on the back of fire trucks, I'm sure there will come a time. But afraid of it no.

Though I am not elderly, I am older, 50+. I have seen changes in my physical apperance and showing signs of aging. It is just part of life. I have never been afraid of aging. I am happy with my life and who I am. Could I be thinner, - yes, could I be more financially secure - why sure! You do gain something the older you get besides wrinkles and that is knowledge, experience and self love. You like who you are and I think you are basically a happier person. Every day is precious and you realize that more the older you get, so to sit around worrying or fearing about things out of my control is a waste of time when I can be enjoying my life.

hi rakesh, Growing old is a natural phenomenon and everyone should get old. I though wont like much to look like an old man but what i am afraid is i wont get old and die younger so i am more afraid i wont get old then afraid of getting old. And when i get old i wont dye my hair and would age gracefully.

Very interesting question. When I was a child, I want to grow up soon. But when I am now thirty, I really afraid. In this age, we should be responsible for everything, for ourselves, for parents, and for children. The burden is so much. If we can go back to young ages, that will be great.

growing old I don't like. it would be cool to grow old and watch the world change and watch any children or grandchildren grow up and experience life, but then i dont want to grow old cos i would hate being dependent on people that would kill, i hate to think i'm wasting peoples time.

I am not afraid of growing old because I've accepted the fact that it is indeed a part of everyone's life cycle. What I am afraid of is if I will not be able to realize the true meaning of life and God's intended mission for me. I am enjoying all the things that I've learned from the years that have passed and I know that there still a lot of essential things that I should learn about life. What matters most is that we are able to make a difference in each year that passes us by.

I was afraid geting old when I was nearly 40 years of age, because (at that time) I have not had good career while my children going to grow more and more bigger and need bigger budget too. Even when my white hair started to emerge I was going to panic and frustration, that I am geting more and more older whitout any significant progress although I was working very, very hard, leaving my house early in the morning around 5AM morning and went home at night sometime above 7PM ; when I was younger I tried also learn hard and try to get higher educations, attending any courses that has to do with my job. But now I am already retired and already at 55 years of age but I dont any more afraid to be older .. hahahaha... even I am ready to die sometimes it is a reflection of SURENDER perhaps desperate also, I only try hard now that God forgive all my sins in the past in protect me from other sin...amen. dont be worry young man, just follow your way and focus to your duty and todays job, it will pass naturally... good luck !!

Hi rakesh284, NO, I am not afraid to get old. This is a natural process in life. Many are trying to avoid this natural process. Buying the unnatural ways to old age, is not a solution. Natural beauty is the best! Mind you if you have a good heart, this will reflect to your natural beauty. Have you heard of that, "the eyes reveals a man's soul?" Wrinkles are there to share. The beauty and wonders of life reveals in your wrinkles! Share it, Show it and Reveal who you really are! If a stick is a problem for you to walk, make a choice then. It's either you walk with a stick or not to walk at all!

Not at all. I would like to grow old gracefully. Growing old is a natural process, the more you get anxious and afraid of getting old, the faster you will undergo the process. So ease up and savor each moment you have. Smile more often, be a good person, be a good friend, exercise daily, drink more water, walk 10,000 steps everyday. Do gardening, enjoy your life. If you enjoy your life and put very little stress on it, you will grow old slowly and it may not even show in your face. The key is just enjoy yourself, don't think so much about getting old, sometimes it is more a state of mind. Think young and be young!...so I am not afraid of growing because I know by then I will have enjoyed my life so much.

well, sometimes it is not horrible to grow old, but to feel growing old~the moment that you realize that you are growing old, it is horrible, especially when you suddenly see that a wrinkle has laid on your face~To be frank, i am afraid of growing old, but on the other side, i would try to accept it with young heart.
