What makes a Sony Vaio laptop special and more expensive?

Why are Vaio laptops more expensive than other laptops? Is it because of the brand, the style/design, or the specs?

I just came back from the IT Shopping Complex .... at first i want to get a Sony Laptop. but then i notice the price is a bit higher than other brand. I asked the sales rep and they say ... well you know its brand speaks for its name ..... ^_^
then i turn to other brand and grab one ..... i grabbed an acer .... ^_^
