Do you judge a discussion by its title?

I usually read the whole discussion before answering it. It happened to me one time that there were those who prejudiced my discussion. What I mean is, they based their answers on the title and didn't care what I mean by it exactly. It gave me the feeling of mixed disappointment and disgust. Although I understand that most people are busy and base whatever that they would say in the first thing they see, I just thought that maybe before they post something really disturbing, they have to read the whole posts first.

Usually no. I won't respond to a discussion that has been posted more than once. Usually I read the discussion first. If I find that the person is careless or rude in their discussions, I won't respond. I also try to stay away from discussions about religion or politic, experience has taught me, that most discussions in that department only end badly. What about you?

I does that too. Well you know, controversies never end right. I completely understand that. *smiles*

I can appreciate the point that you are making, but I still tend to be attracted by the title. The title is the only real point to give a clue as to the content, so unless we read every post made then this has to be the selection criteria.

I agree with you. That's why what I elaborate my discussion title now to avoid misinterpretations and other mislead responses.

Yeah. But I wish he read my post carefully first before putting something like that. Irrelevant and rude at the same time. Also, I think the title of that discussion, although ironic, wasn't offhand completely. Anyway, thanks for your opinion.

I have to read the whole thing otherwise you are not answering to the discussion itself, sometimes you think of something while the discussion starter has another thing which has in mind, the thing about reading first the discussion before answering it is the fact that there are other things that we have in mind which might not necessaarily be the topic and it might mislead others as well (especially if you are the first one to reply to the post), it pays to read no matter how busy we could be, spending time in mylot includes taking the time to read something before responding to it. Have a great day !

I do not think just one person responding to a question no one has been given to work to read, in my view is that lack of respect to the person who had the job of kick a good question.

I try to read it all before commenting on it. I only judge the discussion by the title as if I am interested to discuss that topic or not or do I have to say something about it. But once I get in I try to read the main post completely and then write my response to it.

Usually I go through the entire discussion before committing myself. And I have to tell you the lengthier discussions tire me easily.I am of the opinion that the essence of the discussion should me made felt at the title itself to some extent to avoid the irrelevant responses.

I do look at the title and sometimes judge it by it's title. I do still read the whole discussion before I reply to the discussion. I say this because sometimes a title can be misleading. I think the title of a discussion catches the repliers attention. I am sorry that someone didn't read your whole discussion before responding though.

Hi. I normally read the whole description before responding to any discussion but I really feel pissed off when the discussion starter has not provided a fitting title to the discussion.

I find out about most discussions I respond to via email and there is at least a part of the discussion viewable along with the title. If the subject is someone ranting about politics or something I am not interested in the title will not matter.

I think you have to read the whole post first, otherwise you may not even be answering the question or adressing the issue that was brought up. Most posts aren't too long, it shouldn't take much effort to read it so you can make an educated response.

You can take it away from some people, my friend. ^_^ I, myself, would look into the title first and if I like it, I'll respond to it. But that doesn't mean that I'm not reading the whole discussion that had been started, I just take a peek at the title as a guideline. ^_^ I admit, I don't look at bunches of discussions for I want to know first what is it all about before I get started.

Ya, it's true and i understand how it feels when someone just misinterpret your meaning and write something unrelated to the discussion. So, it'll be best to write the title clear next time. However, it's the responsibility of the person who comment to read the content of the discussion first before posting any comment. I usually will get attracted by the title, then i'll spend some time reading it's content and thikning of it first before i start to write my comment. However so far i haven't have any discussion where there're people write something not related to it. Perhaps, you may just take it easy, it's not your fault afterall. Good luck to you! :)

I must say that I enter discussions who puts an intrets in me. I guess you can say that i'm judging the discussions, but I always read the entire discussion before I respond on it. If I see that I have nothing to write, I just go out, and search for another discussion. I never write down silly things just for the money that I can earn from another post that I made. If someone is writing a discussion, and wants us to help him, or to say our opinions I think we all should put an effort on our response, and be serious about it.

I think the title plays an important role on any type of discussions. If the title seems interesting, it would surely be a hit. But as for me, I make sure I read the discussions content, even though I could sometimes give my own opinion already just by reading the title itself. Sometimes there are discussion which has a short story which is interesting to read :D

Before responding a discussion, I always view its title and chose which one is attractive. When I read this discussion, I find the title is interesting.Title can express the major contents with a brief words. Some titles are similar to others, maybe the creator didn't read the posts been in mylot or the creator wanted to attract the members in mylot.

For me, when I am interested with the title I am willing to post a response to it. I usually read the discussion before posting my response. Some people might judge the discussion base on the title because it is a public information that title really speaks of the discussion. It is in the title itself that you can tell what is the content of the discussion. So maybe next time make your title clear so that you won't receive disturbing response.
