The great towel debate...

Towel - Here is a pic of a towel!

I was shocked to find out that a friend of mine only uses a towel once and then immediately puts it in the laundry to wash. This is after taking a shower...and you are clean when you get out of the shower. I use a towel 2 or 3 times before putting it in the laundry pile. The conclusion we came to is that I went away to college and had to do laundry for myself and thus stretched the time between laundrymat visits. She lived at home during college and her mom washed each towel after only one use. So when she got married, she thought her husband was disgusting to hang up a towel after using it, with the intent of using it again! What do you do?

There are five of us in my house. I do not have the time to be doing a load of towel laundry everyday on top of what I have to keep up with already. We use our towels 2 or 3 time and then we get fresh ones. I don't know about anyone else, but when I get out of the shower I am at the cleanest point I reach all day :)

Yeah I like them fresh also, but that would mean I would use 2 towels a day. That would be 14 a week just for me!!! And about 8-9 for my husband. And then 7 a week for my Son. That would be about 30 towels a week.

Hi, tiffe1496. Wow! Her mom has given her a strange habit of using a towel! I never wash my towel right after using it. I keep it for at least four to five days. That means, I may use it at least four times before, I actually wash it at the laundromat. I can't believe that her mom has her thinking that towels should always be washed once she has first used it. I think that a towel should only be washed if the towel dropped onto the floor or the towel smells funny for some strange reason. Otherwise, it is still clean until four days for me.

I reuse handtowels but nothing else. I never reuse towels. To me thats gross. Even if I am at my cleanest after getting out of the shower a towel sitting around will start smelling like mildew. When we dry ourselves... I personally do not skip any area so I make sure to pat dry between my legs as well. I wouldnt want to use that towel again and dry my face with that lol. Granted after being washed its clean but still. There would be no way of keeping our towels hung up to dry so we could each reuse our towels again. We would have to have 3 different hooks on my bathroom wall and there isnt room for that. When my ex was living here he would take 2 showers a day and use two towels each time so that was 24 towels a week he used. Then my kids and I would each take one shower each day so that was 21 towels a week. Thats a lot of laundry but to me its worth it 2 use clean towels. I like in the summer when I can hang them on the clothesline outside to dry.
