have you ever heard a song and it takes you back to the time you first heard it . have you heard a song from years and years ago that Still holds up , ,it still is great? I have. I just heard Smashing Pumpkins" Bullets With Butterfly Wings. classic. It is my mantra. " Despite all my rage , Iam still a rat in a cage."How about you?

I got songs linked to so many things!! Memories are good with or without music! Leo Sayer's "When I need you" is one I remember a boyfriend over...I moved away and I could just close my eyes and was with him! Waylon Jennings.. "Good Hearted Woman" ... theme song for the first half of my marriage! (no, not to that same guy!) Elton John's "Phillidelphia Freedom" another boyfriend song.. and the list goes one... I even have Righteous Brothers songs for a book I was reading and listend to the music as I read it! Collect all the memories you can...they fade, so make sure you get as much as you can as often as you can!

You light Up My Life plays and I am back in my room singing along. Stroke reminds me of a bus trip when I was in school. we all were singing it.I agree good memories are great . I have been lucky, I don't have a song that is linked to a sad or painful memory.

I never cared for Barbara Mandrell but that song sure did say it all about the history of country - country isjust not country today!

The country today isn't Real country, It is pop with a few country instruments. Where are the steel guitars? the fiddles?I rather just listen to my Emma Lou and Willie Nelson tapes.

Dancing Queen,
that was out when my husband and I were still dating, and we went disco dancing to that song.

I remember the 70's songs too! Those were the best decade since the 50's in songs in my opinion. Nothing better since! You could understand the words, sing along and have a great feeling from them. Just don't have any "sing alongs" out there today that make any sense... just a bunch of junk, crap and words thrown together that make little sense and have no feeling to them! I'm a 70's "throw-back"!!!

This is a beautiful discussion.Music is the beautiful vehicle that always takes you to the wonderful moments and places of the past that has left the sweetest memories in you.
'Those school girl days of telling tales and biting nails'by Lulu from the movie "To Sir with love" alway takes me back to my school days instantly.

The song that does that for me is careless whisper by Wham.I can still remember when i first heard it and I can still see George Micheal singing the song in the big round white house and thinking wow that is so cool and I wish that was me,I am not quite sure i knew waht the song was saying but I loved the imagery

I remember that video. It was great. If I remember the lyrics he was singing about a lost love.
