Oh that is awful but maybe you can rough it a bit, for awhile, ok you probably need the washing machine although I did all my washing by hand for a couple of years before i could afford a machine but i think that is the thing you really need....I don't have a dishwasher, I think people can do with out them and the vaccuum well a straw broom can do a good job as my mother had a vaccum but always only used a straw broom and she had wonderful clean carpet...I hope things work out for you....

Thanks! I forgot how handy a straw broom can be. I used to use that before the vaccum maybe I will just get one of those. Doing dishes always done them until I got spoiled with the dishwasher. I have done clothes by hand before so not a big deal can throw in dryer. So I guess its not that bad after all.

My mother only ever used a straw broom on her carpet and she had a vac salesman come to her house one time to try and sell her a vac, when he asked her how old her carpet was he couldn't believe it, apparantly vacs take a lot of the pile from carpet and this fella couldn't believe how clean it was....

Ack! This is the advice I wish I'd given. Excellent and very doable. Things I've done years ago, in fact, when raising my children.

Sad to hear that. Well, a few months ago, i also got into almost the same problem like you.. It seems like, my washing machine and wall fan had make appointment, to broke at the same time..Sad indeed..Had to spend extra money to get new ones to replace those stuffs that are broke..So, this few months, i had spend extra expenses on getting some new stuffs for my home..Hope you will be able to arrange your expenses first, before you get those new stuffs, so you won't be having a heavy burden..

A few weeks ago my mom got word that the bank may be forclosing on her house. The same week her oven broke and she was stuck either using the grill, the stove top, or the toaster oven. The next week, her refridgerator broke, and she was stuck buying fresh fruits and vegetables and keeping meats in a cooler. Luckily, the bank started a new program specifically for people who were looking at forclosure, which changed their mortgages, and she qualified. A few weeks after that, she got her taxes. She is so relieved now! So, I guess the moral of this story is hang tough! You'll catch a break soon enough!

I am so sorry to hear that everything has broken in the same week. That must be a hard week for you both being frustrated with nothing working, not getting things around the house done and to speak of financially it might also be causing a strain. Can any of these things be fixed and repaired?

How terrible! I know the feeling. This past week my washing machine broke. And today we took up some old carpet and found that the floor was damaged. Today was all about home repairs.

there was one time that I was going to buy some paint and all of a sudden the motor went on my washing machine, so all the money I had saved up for paint I had to spend on a new motor for the washing machine...am still waiting to get the paint to decorate...littleowl

Yup, I don't know why they choose to break down at the same time. At least if they break down over a period of time, then I can slowly replace one by one.. My refrigerator is getting hot, air-conditioner not cold enough and making weird noises, and the washing machine not spinning properly too. So I understand how you feel!

I did buy everything that broke at the same time 4 years ago. Maybe thats why? But only 4 years of use isnt very good.

Years ago the house got hit by lightening and it burned out our fridge tv, and a few other things, all at once, it was not easy replacing everything at once... Last week our hot water tank went out, and we had to get a new one. we had to go without hot water for 3 days, my dishes really stacked up.

Oh my god I'm so sorry. It never happen to me that I can remember but I know it happened to my parents. But with them it was the refrigerator, washing machine and broiler. That was a bad time for them. The dishwasher and washing machine can't be fixed. I'm sure it would be cheaper then buying brand new. As for the vacuum they are not so expensive like the other two items. Good luck and again I'm sorry.

There is a word that fits all of your problem. LEARN. Learn, read, or memorize all the steps in using all those machines around you. honey, Im sure when they issue those machines, they all came up with manuals. Take your time and read carefully, you'll see everything will work smoothly.

Yes, like the saying goes, when it rains it poours. We have had weeks like that, Murphy's law, seems everything goes kaput at once. Sorry you had a week like that. Here's hoping the coming weeks are terrific.
