Do you believe the world will end in 2012?

I just saw a news report about a possible solar storm causing the end of the world in the year 2012. Scientists are claiming that there could be a solar storm in the year 2012 that could potentially cause massive blackouts and other catastrophic events. I have also read about predictions of the Mayans regarding the end of days pointing to the year 2012. The Mayan calendar ends in December the year 2012. Do you believe in these theories? What do you think will happen to the Earth and human kind in the year 2012? Do you think the 2012 date is a hoax or do you think it could it be true?

Hmm, this sounds a lot like the movie I saw months ago starring Nicholas Cage. The movie was set with him knowing that there will be solar storms that will cause the destruction of the earth. Well, better find another planet to reside in real quick. That or just be ready for whatever comes our way. Anyway, were you able to watch that film? Really intriguing.

hey, i saw that movie. it is great. but i dont know why those two little kids running to a white tree at the end of the story. maybe there is some religionary meaning which i was unable to understand. would you please tell me the reason if you know.so many thanks!:) by the way, i am a fan of cage. he is brilliant. most of his movies are great. lets go back to the title. i think it is really hard for us human beings to find another planet which suitable to live on. as someone said above, we should live just like everyday is the last day before the world ends. so, even we die we still die in smilling. we will not feel sorry to the time past away.

I remember all the flack about Y2K, when 2000 came around...there was supposed to be massive problems with computers worldwide. Everything was supposed to come screeching to a halt. It didn't happen though. I don't believe that the end of the world can be predicted. Only God knows what our future holds...not scientists and not the Mayans. I have faith in God so I will plan for 2013.

I do not think so. Nothing can be predicted. There are certain happenings which do not fall under scientific laws but directly under the control of the Almighty. That is why it is not going to happen. The world will move on.

To tell the truth , there will not be any catastrophic events on 2012. The Mayans thought that the world is going to end on 2012 because that was the time their Mayan Long Count calender runs out. The Long count calender is a calender which lasts 5126 years. and since the mayans could not predict the years after that , they just assumed that something bad will happen. So you dont have to worry about any giant solar flare from sun or some other catastrophy that will wipe out the human race. Just enjoy life and dont listen to such hoax. This link has more info on it http://www.universetoday.com/2008/05/19/no-doomsday-in-2012/

This brings up an important discussion in my opinion. I have read about the mayan calendar and the prediction that they have made that the world is going to end in 2012 but isn't that what we said about Y2k? We made all this fuss about and ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off over it. From what I can say is that I don't think the world is going to end in 2012 but we should live our lives for the moment and enjoy as much of it as we can because life is indeed short and the prediction might be correct.

I got so scared yesterday when we hit an earthquake. I thought its the end of my world. Back it the topic, I believe the end of the world is near and getting near as predictions on book of revelation starts to build up. Just go on on your lives and think if there's tomorrow there still hope to come. To anonymousb, your watching too much History channel.

Hello anonymousb!!! I don't know what really is going to happen. I have to check out the videos. They have different claims, but nothing fixed. But regarding that thing, I found a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev-nuPM3tOE as I was searching about the very thing. Well I liked the things described in it and accept it whole heartedly, only to apply it is the touch thing to do... You can discuss about the above link here http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2012073.aspx. We can't say that the predictions will not come true and again we can't even say that the predictions are not wrong. Yes I looked about the Mayan Calender stuff too. It is a real mystery that why the Mayan Calender ends at 21st December 2012, but I don't think we can conclude to the point that this world is surely going to end. The nature balance itself whenever there is imbalance. Even for the small things like you move from one place to another, then something surely happens in order to balance your move. In fact, the earth quakes, storms are every thing due to imbalance, and so to balance them, such thing happen and they are just too natural. And we can't say that such things can't happen in our life. It is sure that to maintain the balance, human beings will extinct for sure one day, and every one knows it. But I think system of life will not end even if the world ends. There may be new life, like the existence of human beings from extinction of dinosaurs. And then the extinction of human beings to some other things...That's why I see them just natural, and can't expect god to do this and do that for the sake of us.... Happy mylotting...

That is true salvator. There are people who can predict the future. We are the part of this nature and nothing else. Every thing is just the illusion. The people in the past generations were much closer to the realities of the world. And we are totally immersed in the world of materialism already. That's why we have forgotten what really the nature is. The waves of thinking in human beings have changed, changed and changed. Remember the Earth can live without us and we cannot live without the earth. It is just the nature, and we can't expect god to correct this. We should be responsible of ourselves understanding the truth. As we are part of this nature and the whole world is the form of energy, even us. The astronomical things really matters. For example, consider an atom. What happens when an electron is removed from an atom, there is certainly the effect. That's the case with the astronomical things, and they are 100% true if correctly predicted. And about 2012, if it is correctly predicted, the day will surely come that in inevitable. you believe in Jesus Christ privas. Well I can accept till the thing that he is an enlightened person, and nothing more like the son of god. We are the form of energy and the enlightened person can spread the wave of love that people can gain. Lord Buddha, Lord Jesus and other gods, we consider are the enlightened people who have known the truth of this world and that's why they spread the waves of love, kindness which really matters. So the better thing is to live in harmony with this world accepting it as the part of us.

"no human being can predict the end of the world" That is not completely true.. what if say there was an asteroid like 1000000000000 times larger than the earth and just came at us at full spead, squashing our tiny planet. In one of those giant telescope thingys, you could see this asteroid comming like a year in advanced if it was that large. I beleive that a human can predict the end of the world But, the earth will not end in 2012, because if it did, then what would be the point of going 2 school right now?

Don't worry. When the hour is upon us the world government will dispatch a team of experts led by Bruce Willis and things will be taken care of lickety split. Or do you think the Illuminati are going to sit on their laurels while everything they've toiled for in all these centuries go to senseless waste?

I think we humans could not really get a predictable date that really all of us is going to die at that day and it is also not in our hands to decide. So i guess, life goes on and let's see what will happen on that day.
