Swine Flu

Singapore

Despite of the awareness and discovered cases, I am concerned how this epidemic has continued to spread with more people infected and new cases in other countries. Just where have the WHO, authorities or people gone wrong with this latest infectious and fatal flu strain? IMO, I am wondering WHO could issue out an order to prevent people with flu symptoms to stop self medicating and to visit the doctors locally for diagnosis. I feel this will at least prevent possible spread and better control here. I feel this important call should not be held back further and that with this being issued the local pharmaceuticals will be prevented from selling and prescribing without proper prescriptions. You may have differing views or objections here, but I feel that sometimes we just need to go back to the basics. What's your take here?

I agree with you. Just like bird flu before, this time the Swine Flu seems to be a bit more fierce on its attacks. I think it all falls back on hygiene. But then, some people just seem to be getting this illness and my heart feels for them, really. In my country, we just have 1 confirmed case of this H1N1 flu, or what they call the Swine Flu. She's a 22 year old woman and she has been confirmed with it. I feel bad for her and hope she is able to recover from this illness. Other than hygiene, I think refraining from going out on the public so often is also good. It's best to stay indoors until a better situation is achieved out there. In China, at least, there seems to be new vaccine coming out. Hope that it's going to be effective. By the way, I agree with what you said on the way on how to prevent more spread on this illness. Let's just hope for the best.

zed_k4, Thank you for your response here and as we are speaking I am sure that you are aware that there is new cases coming up and the numbers are increasing everywhere. My concern is that despite the experiences with SARS, and bird flu, I am just disappointed that there had not been measures to quell the spreading. I am just thinking aloud here if all overseas travel should come to a temporary standstill. I am sure that there will be cannons coming at me, but if you think further, from the accounts of the spreading I am sure we can pick up some same trend of thought. It may be wishful thinking here, however, it isn't groundless. Cheers.

I see your point of view there. Perhaps there should be a temporary standstill until these diseases stop spreading. That's certainly food for thought. In my country at least, there has already been around 3 more confirmed Swine Flu case. Hope they recover and I hope there will be no more spread of this illness.

Bradpete, I am not aware in the real sense that I have asked for the prevention of this H1N1 Swine Flu, and even if this discussion had asked for it, I felt that I would prefer that you could elaborate for the sake of other members who just cannot seem to access your blog link here. No offense taken, as I just do not think half hearted efforts is beneficial for either parties. FYI I am one of the members who will not be able to access your intended blog, either its access is being banned in this region or that your address link is in error. Cheers.
