How much are you willing to spend on a new car?

What is the most amount of money that you would spend on a car? Do you need the most expensive or fastest car out there or will an average or less than average vehicle be sufficient?

Yes, an average car will do if it can get you to the places you want to go with it.

If you have the money as well, nothing wrong with that. If I had the money, I would like something sporty and fancy as well.

Honda City - honda city
i would say at about USD23,000 for a Honda City. all these while, i've been driving malaysia's national car which is at about USD10,000. but i chose honda city because i felt that it's so so sexy (lol) yup, and it's the most fuel efficient imported car around!!

Awesome to hear that. I am thinking about getting a Honda and am going to check Hondas out tomorrow after work. Definitely fuel efficient cars. Thanks

Normally I would not even consider a "new" car. I prefer them about 2-3 years old so that the major depreciation has already hit. Sad to think you buy a new car and a year later while you still have a huge payment the car is worth half what you paid. The only exception to this for me is I want a hybrid, and the only way I am probably going to get one is to buy it new. However, I am going to wait a few more years, right now as it is if the electrically portion goes down it costs almost as much to fix it as to buy it. Once they are out more and regular mechanics are trained to work on them, I will get one. Current price for some is about average with a new car starting at about 24K not bad considering the savings you get on gas and insurance.

The most I ever spent on a car was about $15,000...that was for my 4-runner. My SO's car was starting get to wear on his work commute so we just bought a Sonata...$8,000..for a 2004..it's used not new...but it was a deal. I think cars are way over priced to begin with.!!

yes, cars are definitely overprices for sure. Just like everything else is overpriced. I would probably spend up to $15000 myself.

I have never had a "new" car..so if there is some one who wants to give me one..hey..I wont refuse..I buy used cars. and am quite content with them..I paid 5000 for my car;)+

I hope that you will get to buy a new car someday so you can enjoy it longer. :-) But nothing wrong with having a used car either.

Very nice as well. What kind of car did you get? I know that I could not afford that much on a car right now.

I hope to never pay more than $25,000 and that was a special case where I really wanted something. I bought a MINI Cooper in 2003 and spent just under $25K for it. I would normally only buy a used car because they hold their value better, but this was an exception where I broke my own rule. It's okay though, it is paid for now, and the cost of driving it is very low and economical, so I'm glad I bought it.

That is great that you are glad that you bought it, no matter if it cost more than you normally would have paid for it. sounds like a nice vehicle. :-)

I wouldn't pay for anything that's more than $20,000. I would go with a car that will last for at least 10 years.

Long lasting cars is the way to go. My 93 saturn has held up well for me for 13 years now and still going. Only have had minor repairs since I have had it.

If I was going to buy a new car it would have to be under $15,000. Now if you include an SUV under cars I'd go up to $25,000 but that is about it. I don't need the best or fastest. I just need something that is reliable, safe and can get me from point A to B and hopfully a few more places as well.
