Teaching, another way of learning

My grandson started to learn piano several months ago. Potential is limitless for children. Playing with both hands seems natural for them, while a big issue for adults. Every time I go to visit him, I ask him to teach me how to play. He takes it seriously and does well teaching me from central C, musical symbols, short pieces, in the same words of his teacher, in good logic and proper process. Teaching is another way of his learning, which helps reviewing and stimulating interest.

Yes I agree with you. Teaching is in did another way of learning. I think while teaching someone something then our concept of that subject becomes more and more clear. Because when we learn something we may have missed some aspect of it and then while teaching the other person may asked question on that aspect and then our concept becomes more clear. In my college days I use to teach my friends and this helped me a lot in understanding the subjects better.

I totally agree that teaching is another way of learning. I teach the violin and find that the more I teach, the better my own playing gets. Also, when I was in college and graduate school, I always learned the most in classes where students were responsible for helping to teach and giving presentations. It's amazing how that works!

Yes, listening is only one way of learning. There are more impressive ways to learn. Thanks for responding.

Hi zhuhuifen, It's good that your grandson is doing so well and you are helping him. Teaching another no matter how simple the piece is a great way to learn. I too, am often amazed at how fast children learn, it's only after they have "caught" our fears that things begin to change. Blessings.

You right mom.I agree with you.Teaching another way of learning.Because we repeat some thing (what we learn) and make listener understand. As a teacher,I get profit by teaching.I have to learn before I teach the topic to my students. Some time,I find some fact which I don't know before.

Hello my friend zhuhuifen46 Ji, As a old teacher, I can fully understand your feelings, without going much in detail about subject. The more anyone teaches, subject becomes by heart and one attains mastery. I am sure, you Grand son too will attain, so long he keeps teaching you. May god bless You and have a great time.
