What type of vacuum do you have in your home? We have a eureka right now and I have to put it out for the trash because it just doesn't work well. That is the second vacuum we have had that has crashed and burned rather quickly. I thought about getting a dyson but I'm afraid to pay that much and it not hold up like it should. So I'm wondering what is a good brand of vacuum to go with?

Dirt Devil is a really good vacuum brand. About ten years ago, I bought a Dirt Devil Hand Vac. I used it for years on small areas and the sucking power is just amazing. It even works on small areas of carpet when I don't want to get the big vac out. And, it's still working like a dream, runs very smoothly. And, it has never given me problems. I used to have an Electrolux, bought second hand and it was a nightmare to deal with. Very heavy to lug around with that long hose and heavy wand. I am in the market for a new vacuum, one larger to do the carpets with. And, I plan to buy a Dirt Devil full size vac from Walmart. They have Dirt Devil vacs for $39 to $54, very affordable by comparison to Electrolux.

Dyson is of really good quality, you should look into them. They have them on demo at places like Sears and stuff. Yep, it isn't the quality of the vacuum that keeps me from purchasing it (Besides not having any carpet right now lol) But those things cost as much as car payment! Yeah, they wouldn't be around if they didn't have the quality to back up that price. But jebus that price!!!

I do not have a vacuum. What I have is a broom which I hardly use anyway. Cheers!!

I am very happy with my Bissell that cost $48. It's been smashed up a bit by kids and they lost some of my attachments, but on the whole it has really good suction and I got the bagless one to avoid having to buy bags. I would recommend it if you just want something that works while you save for something fancier. My mother bought an Electrolux when I was young and she swore they were the best vacuums in the world. They tend to be really expensive too, though. I definitely would not recommend a Dirt Devil anything, I have had experience of a couple of these and unless you want to pick up all the visible dirt by hand, go with something else. They have no suction whatsoever and it only gets worse over time.

There are so many vacuums out there on the market these days. It can get to be quite confusing can't it? I really like my Oreck vacuum cleaner. It's light weight and so easy to take up and down the steps. I've probably had it for about 7 years or so and the only problem I had was that I needed to replace the belt a couple of times. That all probably depends on how much you use the vacuum though. I tend to use mine a lot, practically every day or every other day. Good luck with finding your perfect vacuum.

Heyya ravinskye! I have a dirt devil turbo..bagless..upright. I will have to say it is the best vac I have had. It cost around a hundred dollars and you have a hepa filter you have to replace every six months to a year dependingon how much you use it. I have hard wood floors now so I don't need it as much. I just use it on my furniture from time to time.

I am sure that a vacuum is just like any of the other things we purchase, there are lemons in them all. My daughter invested in a dyson vacuum about 3 or 4 years ago and she loves hers and it works great. She says hers works as good as the day she bought it and so far has had no problems at all with it.

I have a Hoover that I bought from a garage sale for $5. It works okay.. not the greatest, but not the worst either. Before that I had a Bissell I bought for $50 at Walmart, it had been my 2nd of that same type. It was a POS that's forsure. That Dyson is a good vacuum. My husband uses it at work and wants us to eventually get one. It's just that anytime we have that kind of money, we'd rather put it to better use!
