Okay here's the situation... I went to the mall with my 2 friend namely Marck and Chester I have no money but i want to buy the bag worth $47... I borrowed $25 from Marck and another $25 from Chester... So i bought the bag and got $3 as my change... I returned the change .. $1 to Marck and another $1 to Chester... and $1 to me... When we got home, i opened my piggybank... counted the money and paid back $24 to marck and another $24 to chester... to compute... i borrowed $50..$1(change i kept in hand)+24+24=$49 question.. where did the $1 go???

You didn't count the two dollars you had already returned... You borrowed $50 and gave back $2, then you gave back $48 more which equals $50. You don't really have an extra dollar or any money missing because you paid back what you owed exactly. If you had paid Marck $2 and Chester $1, then you would have paid back $23 to Narck and $24 to Chester and it would still be $50.

It a tricky situation that can make the mind twist but actually the computation is wrong... Vm

The $1 is with you, take note: you have a change of $3, you gave back $1 each and $1 with you. That is we took it in a mathematical problem solving but should be with careful logical analysis too. Its all in the statement of the problem.

technically the one in your hand should be put into the piggy bank before you shared the money to the two guys, then it will be correct if you counted it this way (at the mall)1+1=2 (from piggy)24+24=48 - at the mall + piggy = $50 and so every thing is settled. this happened because u didn't had any money at start so why take the $1 change.
