My job and my husband's job were both shipped to India in 2000. It REALLY bit at the time and has definitely negatively impacted our local economy. Personally we have changed fields and moved on, but it left a devastating gash in our lives and careers. We both loved our jobs.

I say Amercia is putting more and more of it's hard working single parents on the welfare roles as their jobs aer outsourced to other countries leaving them jobless and less able to find work when there are less jobs to behad in this country...Companies that do this should have to to pay some kind of extra tax or fee to make up for the deposit they are causing our country for having to finacially support the families of the people who lost their job to cheaper labour in other countries!

There is of course a flip side to this arguement. Outsourcing gives otherwise jobless Indians a chance to make a decent living and to buy consumer good produced by American Companies who will hopefully employ Americans who might otherwise be on the welfare roles

If my bank switched to using customer service reps outside of the US, I would find a local bank to use. Yes they are smaller and don't have as many good deals, but at least they understand what I need when I call.

Of course they do! They probably really don't understand. I have had many telemarkets from India call me in such broken English and badlky constructed sentences that you can't understand what they are saying.

I don't have a problem with it, unless I have to make a customer service call and find that the person's English is not up to par.

A lot of work is outsourced be it banking, call centre or animations. The labour cost in India is very cheap and is available in abundance that;s why these workd are getting outsourced to India. Ipersonally feel that working in a call centre specially the night shift has very bad effect on our lifes

Its good actually if businesses are looking at long-term gains. Outsourcing to india is always been beneficial to many corporates of other countries. As we all know indians have the capability to deliver the challenges, abundant skilled human capital and cost effectiveness. I think no country beats india when outsourcing is the topic could be argument or could be execution.

I think its a case of many of the jobs outsourced to India are done by MBA's and people who are ambitious - the same jobs that would be done in the USA would be done by people of lesser qualifications.

There are good number of MBA's getting graduated every year. Not every MBAiate is working for outsourcing company. Today even the low level qualified person also working in outsourcing companies in india. Its not that we debate on MBA's or lesser qualified person. Its about capability in doing the job. If Large corporates of USA can understand the capabilities of an small outsourcing company from India, that's why they are outsourcing it to indian companies. Important thing to remember is, corporates are not outsourcing core-activities of the business of the organisations. They are sending non-core jobs wherein the people who lose job in USA is been shifted to other departments grooming with essential training to face further challenges.

Because here people work for less pay due to the low currency rate. thats the primary cause of outsourcing.. People in india are not very demanding

With the advent of many call centers in India, the pay pacakges are getting better and better. Earlier people working in call centers used to earn around 10k per month, but now call center executives in India are getting much better packages.

Why of all the countries jobs come to India. This is for 3 reasons: 1. Labour is cheap 2. Language of English is fairly better 3. Skilled labour execute the work rather earnestly.

A client of mine who worked for an Indian outsourcing company once made the remark that wages in India are on the up and may one day be so expensive that India will have to outsource jobs back to the USA

I'll say this one thing....the reason many of these jobs were outsourced is NOT only because of cheaper waages, it is because people who live in a country who appreciate these kinds of jobs do a BETTER JOB! I personally would rather deal with someone from the Phillipines or India who appreciates their job and conveys that to me as a customer than someone who is just putting in their 8 hours in the USA and doesn't give a crap. Sure, there are some dialects or accents to weed thru, but the heart behind the customer service agent more than makesup for maybe having to ask him/her to repeat what they said. I have to remain policitally correct here, but I'll tell you what, I'be spoken in the past to AMERICANS who I didn't understand what the hell they were trying to say....and they were jerks who didn't care that were offended that I didn't understand. I use BellSouth who outsources to the Phillipines, and it's the BEST customer service I have ever gotten. Those people are awesome!!! They will go the extra mile every time!! They deserve the job!

I understand the reason for outsourcing. The only problem I've had is not being able to understand someone. I just ask to speak to someone with a better understanding and command of the language. Some have been very helpful; others have no idea what they are doing.

u are not the only victim! First let me tell u what will happen inside the floor. A agent would login to the system..as soon he is aviable the call would be routed to him. He has to answer the in the first ring itself.he nearly taks 100 calls a day...Trust me he woudnt have time to take even a single breath after 1 call... It just goes on like a stream..The calls keep flowing!

if my bank outsourced to another country I would immediately switch banks. It's bad enough I have to deal with tech and customer service with my home phone and internet that has been outsourced (to where I don't know) luckily my cell and satilite t.v. haven't been yet.

Yes Many companies outsource their work to india ..The main cause of it is that the labour cost is very less and indians are good at english (when compared to chinese ..actually in china also the cost will be less but due to english ..Companies do not outsource there) The work which indians do, has a very good quality

what i have to say on that?no please dont.from my own experience i know it is so difficult to understand what they say.ok not everyone but then the level of customer service is quite low,and this following the script all the time?u have to bend the rules sometimes-on the other end of the line is a real person so if i talk to u like to a person act like one not like robot please

In one short sentence...I don't like it at all. If I am in the United States and I need to call my bank (or any other type of customer service line), be certain, I will only speak with a fellow American. And, I will make sure the call center is in the United States. I want to be able to understand every word the customer service rep is saying. I understand that many people in other countries do speak English, but I really do have trouble understanding the accent. This doesn't mean that you aren't speaking proper English and that if we understand each other, you couldn't help me. But, if I am calling from the U.S. about my bank account, my information better not accessed from another country.
