I feel that students who come late to the school should be punished by the teachers by giving them imposition or so. If they do that they will not repeat the mistake again and when they go to college also they will be punctual to the college. What do you think?

no i dont think that students coming late to the schools should directly be punished if really the have a proper reason and can prove it then there should be no punishment otherwise he will start disrespecting the teacher.... ya if they are mischevious and always late in the class then should be strictly punished....

Yes being late is not good but if there's a reason why they are late. I don't think that they should be punished. Am I Right dhawanbm?

Young kids have to rely on their parents to get them to school on time and it's sad to have to punish them when they have no control over when they get to school. My high school gave lunch detentions for showing up to any class late, and that worked well. In college, one professor would randomly pass out short quizzes at the beginning of class, so being 5-10 minutes late would hurt your grade. I thought that was very effective, but not as severe as locking out late students.

Hmmm. Well, it depends WHY a student is late. While I do agree with consequences for actions, not every consequence will work for every person. Sometimes no consequence is necessary because it wasn't the student's fault they were late. For me it would depend, is it a chronic problem, happen often? Is the student embarrassed about it, or do they not care? If this is a student who is constantly coming late, has no reason, doesn't care, then of course they need some type of consequence and discipline. If they come late once and have a good reason, then no, no consequence is necessary, and let me tell you, if my child was punished for a first offense, I would be a very very angry parent!! I also have no clue why so many people try to equate schools. Elementary and middle school is NOTHING like high school. High school is NOTHING like college. Trying to say that a five year old should sit in school for 6 hours or do 45 minutes of homework 'because that's how you learn for college' is ridiculous. When you are little, you are learning HOW to learn and learning the basics that are integral for all learning, no matter what arena. Reading, comprehension, writing, basic math, all things that you then use in your other learning pursuits. You learn HOW to study. When you're older, then you know how to learn and how to study, and then the focus shifts to just the learning and studying part.

I think that kind of student really need to be punished! I hate be disturbed by that kind of man while we are listening to the theacher carefully . Actually if you don't like this lesson you can absent but if you think this lesson is important for you ,you do better arrive the classroom early.

Punishment won't help fundamentally.Changes must out of their own awareness,so teachers should pay more attention on students' mental situation.
