Going to the Vet

Today after work I have to take my cat to the vet. No worries, there isnt anything wrong! He just needs to get his shots. The vet will also check to make sure there isnt anything else wrong. It is always a hassle to get him there. As soon as he sees the carrier, he knows what is coming. He tries to run and hide so that he wont be stuck in there. As soon as I walk out of the back door, he starts meowing. He meows the whole way to the vet. He is normally very cooperative. He lets us trim his claws and even pull the eye boogers away from his eyes. He also listens to verbal commands really well. But as soon as we get to the vet, he doesnt want to cooperate. He doesnt want to listen! It is very frustrating. I will be glad when this appointment is over! Do you take your pets for regular shots and check ups? Does your cat mind going in a carrier? Does your cat change personalities as soon as you get to the vet? Feel free to share any horror stories. It will help remind me that I dont have it bad at all!

Most cats hate vet visits and associate the carrier with visiting them. I leave a carrier out all the time and they can go in and out at will. They even sleep in it! This way they are used to it.

My old cat Harry just hated the vet. I'll admit, the vet we went to wasn't very friendly, but I think it was the smell of the other animals there that really freaked him out. He managed to escape from his carrier once and hid under the driver seat in my mother's car. The vet had to come outside and give our cat his shot in the car! With my new cat, I keep the carrier out all the time. It hides in the corner of the bedroom and has a comfy little blanket inside. This way, our kitten doesn't associate the carrier with the vet and freak out when he sees it. In fact, he hangs out and naps in it all the time! If only I could find a way to keep him happy in the car...

well, it seem that he doesn't like vet and he could understand you very well. hehehehe... just like cartoons act. I never have experience with pets that much so I really dont have any story to share with you... and mostly in my country, they dont really take care of pets either... just feed them and give them a shot, that's all.

i know. my late pets hated the vets. that place met them nervous. as soon as they go inside the office, they start to pee and poop everywhere, making a mess. it is all nerves to show how much they hate being there. they are like people. people hate going to the doctors, too. so, animals arent any different. they feel the same things.
