For me it really depends on who I am talking to and what kind of laughter it is!
Regular laughter: LOL or
Evil laughter: Muahahahaha
Sarcastic laughter: HAHAHAHA
Secretive or silly: hehe
Wow, I never realized that I could be so expressive with written laughter. Funny how the same thing can represent so many different things!

Hello derlila! I've been using all different types of laughter that you mentioned, and I also give the same meanings to my laughter. The only one that I don't use there is evil laughter.
Well, I'm not evil, so I really don't need that kind of laughter.

I tend to use lol sparsely. When I used instant messaging and chat rooms, I had friends who over used it. This was very annoying. It was the kind of annoyance that would place mean thoughts in my head whenever they did it. such thoughts were too vile and evil to even post on this wonderful site. Actually, some of them were more humorous than anything else. But most were down right mean spirited.
I mean, seriously, not body laughs out loud at every little comment that is made. If they do, I doubt that person would be granted access to a computer. I'm not sure if padded rooms have a power outlet. If they do, how the guy be able to type when in the straitjacket? Would they use their toes? I tried that one time. My big toe makes touch typing seem like the hardest thing ever. I think it's dyslexic or something. If i had to type with my toes because my arms were immobilized, I'd opt for voice recognition. At which point, heheheheee or haw-haw! would be the words I'd use to express laughter.

I usually use "lol" or a smiley. It all depends on the mood I'm trying to convey. Sometimes I'll even do a ROFLMAO or a ROFL. Very rarely, it's a "HAAAAAAAAAA!!!" As with anything, there are different expressions that convey different sentiments. :)
