Does your mother backbite about your in-laws to you??

My Mom has started haunting me recently... Somehow she doesn't like anything my in-laws do.. Is this a regular problem or what?? I'm so confused.. Even the best of gestures by my in-laws are looked at with spite by my Mother. I have half a mind to tell her to stop yapping like that, cause it puts negative thoughts in my head. And because of all the poison she's filled in me, it affects the way I interact with my in-laws.. I just don't know what to do. Can anyone please tell me what to do, if you've been in any similar situation..

Your mom is jealous and it’s a very natural reaction. I am an only child of my parents and after marriage, whenever I praised my MIL to my mom, my mom would just fly off the handle…she could never take it. She would try and fill my mind with negative thoughts…like MILs are never nice, you are new so you feel like this and so on…I did two things to stop this. First I paid no heed to my mom Secondly, I stopped saying anything about my in-laws to her.

Try to change the topic whenever your mom talk about your in-laws or if you think your mom is calling you because she will tell bad things about your in laws again. I guess you better avoid her calls but instead call her and give her an instant topic to talk about. Let say " hi mom, how's dad?". lol
