Prices going up- what bothers you the most?

Everything is getting more expensive, but some things affect us more than others. What price increases bother you the most? I'm extremely peeved today because I just found out that my apartment increased the price of a load of laundry from $1.25 to $1.50. I'll be compensating for that by not using the dryer anymore. How do you deal with things that are more expensive, but necessary?

I just experienced this yesterday. I had to buy a pump for my swamp cooler. Last year it was between 6 and 8 dollars. Yesterday it was $14.98 - $23.00 at Lowes and between $14.00 to $22.00 at walmart. I couldn't believe the price hike. There are alot of other things that keep going up such as food and gas and I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Very scary!

Yeah, anything home-improvement related has gotten more expensive (I work at a home improvement store, so I get that complaint all the time). I'm starting to think that it's kind of good that I live in an apartment and someone else does all the repairs.

I hate that the price of food is going up. Alot of the essentials that My household thrives on keep going up in price. If only the USA was more stabel nd actually produced things, everything would get better, and people would be able to afford to buy things and supply money to the economy.

Actually, things produced in the US tend to be more expensive, because companies have to pay US workers more. In other countries, these corporations can pay their employees next to nothing and that's why their products remain relatively cheap. I agree with you, though, that we should rely more on locally-produced products than imported ones.

well, i would have to say food and clothing prices have increased quite a bit and that bugs me. i remember when bananas were .49 cents a lb and now i have seen them as much as .79! even a cheap meal like pasta isnt as cheap as it used to be and dont even mention clothing!

Yeah, you used to be able to get a box of brand name pasta for around a dollar. Now it's creeping closer to two dollars. Clothing doesn't bother me so much, because I buy all of my clothing from thrift stores. It's washing the clothing that gets me!

I'm peeved at groceries and dog food. I understand a small increase here and there, but the dog food we get went up $5.00 a bag! That's a 10% increase in the course of 3 weeks! Groceries also drive me crazy. We used to get the $1.00 cardboard pizzas. Now they are $1.30. It just seems like such a huge increase when looking at the percentage. I haven't gotten a 10-30% increase in pay. How are we supposed to make ends meet?

LOL! I thought my grandma was the only one who said "cardboard pizza"! But yeah, I think that the price increases are so bad because our wages aren't increasing proportionately. And an extra $5.00 per bag for the dog food is just unreasonable.

well to be honest with your comments i don't like walking around in wet clothes. secondly, i would move into a residence that offers you free use of the laundry machines. there out their and are not to hard to find. thirdly, you can gather up enough friends to move into a home and split the rent.

I don't walk around in wet clothes- I line dry them. And no, apartments that have free laundry are not easy to find. Maybe in your area or your price range, but not mine. I have checked with almost all of the apartments in my city that have rent I can afford, and none of them offer free laundry, and none of them have hookups for washers and dryers in their apartments either. And thirdly, No, I can't gather up enough friends to move into a home and split the rent. First of all, I don't have friends here. I go to school full time and work most of the rest of the time. I don't have time for social activities. Plus, I only moved to this city to finish school, and I don't plan on staying here long. It just isn't worth it to make a whole lot of friends who I'm just going to leave behind in a couple of years. In addition, I really don't like sharing space with people who are not part of my family, and the idea of splitting up rent makes me feel really uncomfortable. There's too much potential for conflict in that kind of situation, and I know a few people who have lost friends over similar things.

I've got to say gasoline and food are the two biggest things for me. It's a must to be able to go where you need and of course food is important. It's frustrating to see the things you've gotten from the grocery store in the past go way up to where you can't really get it anymore and you have to find other things that are cheaper. And gas is now flying back up and we all can't help but to get really worried and expect it to hit 3 dollars again very soon.

I currently have a temporary seasonal job. Although I don't want to lose it, I can't help but think that if I don't have a job, at least I won't have to buy gas for the rest of the summer. I'm starting to try to find more ways to make money from home.
