hi there, from what i know there was never a instance that was mentioned that smoking is a sin. well however but it is written that the body is the temple of the holy spirit therefore we should not defile it. So is smoking allowed in christian context?

Smoking does defile the body, what about junck food, and the many other things we take in to our bodies. To know what is right or wrong, we need to live in a relationship with God where he tells us personaly what He expects from us. Blessings

Good point, I would not argue with you, you have done grat research. I am not into stats but know out of experience that many things that we so easily take into our bodies, are unhealthy and causes just as much damage as smoking. I do not say smoning is right, but if one would say smoking is a sin, think about all the other things as well. That is way I say, only through living in a relationship with God will we ever know what He expects from us and what not. There are certain things that the Word is not clear about, and when one has that relationship with God, He will let us know the answers that He wants us to have. Let every person make it out for themselves with God. Blessings

I believe in God and I know that there are some things which we should not be doing as well as in other religion too, we should not ne backbitting, lying, and so on but I think we can smoke, we are the sole person to decide about that, so I think if someone thinks he is not guilty in doing it so why not but if someone thinks he is betraying God or someone else then he will obviously be staying far from it. We are the soul and not the body, it is written in every sacred scriptures, we have to get our soul purified thats all.

If all these diseases are revealed then why people are continuing to smoke even if they are christian? I believe it is just because they WANT to and it is their sole decision, we can tell them the side effect but then they are the sole person to accept to quit or to continue. Each and every person has the right to do what they want afterall, we can offer them help but what if they deny our help and continue smoking?!!

smoking defiles ones body. It's a holy temple, our bodies. The body needs to be presented clean before the Lord. Smoking may not be mentioned in the bible, but defiling you body is mentioned very clearly.

1 Corinthians 10:23 -- "All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful; All things are lawful, but not all things build up."As a Christian, the follower of Jesus Christ, should not do anything that is not helpful to self, to others, or gives no glory to the Lord. God bless you! dh6136 http://icare707.net

Well, to sound a bit cliche', I always think of what Christ would do. After all the definition of Christian is being "Christ-Like", and I just could see Jesus lighting up! LOL... Besides, we ALL KNOW that it's bad for you.
