Why is Chrysler Closing Dealerships?

Is it part of a change of business model thought up my Chrysler executives to turn the black ink red? NO! Is it because the dealerships being closed aren't profitable? NO! It's because Obama's "Car Czar", Steven Rattner ordered it! Profitable, family run businesses are being closed because a whiny dictator who is building a $15 Million SUMMER HOME got a bug up his butt and demanded it. Don't ever lie to me about Obama being anything but a Dictator ever again!

These dealerships were not at the bottom of the barrel. Chrysler just knows that they are not going to be able to supply all of its dealerships so I think they just drew straws or knocked out the ones that would be the hardest to supply and that was that. They are now killing the economy in those areas. It is not just the dealerships. It is the local diners, the little league kids. It is all kinds of charities because dealerships always support charities. It is all kinds of aspects of the local community that will suffer because these dealerships will be gone. A lot of money will be leaving the area and that will hurt everyone. But chrysler will be happy. They're going to Mexico. Lower wages, and no taxes. And no one to make sure they are doing a good job, so they can take as many short cuts as they want, at the buyers expense. Shalom~Adoniah

True, any change in business model probably would have led to closing dealerships. But how is it up to a government pinheaded oaf to dictate the business model to Chrysler?

The do this in Italy and remember that the big 0 said that he wanted to model the USA after Italy? Well the Pres of Italy sits down with the Major CEOs of Major companys and makes sure that there is no competition in the market place. They seem to like it like that over there. WELL WE DON'T and we need to make the 0 understand that WE DO LIKE COMPETITION IT IS PART OF WHAT HAS MADE THIS COUNTRY GREAT! Shalom

That's interesting, Ted, because as I'm sure you know, the spin that's being reported is that these dealers are the bottom 14% with the worst track record in sales. If Chrysler is no longer required to provide vehicles for them, the company saves money by producing less stock. What made me raise an eyebrow was this question....why not sell Fiats at those dealers instead of just dumping them?

What I don't get is these family run dealerships buy their cars to sell them... right? At least that's what I heard that they must buy the cars from the car companies and then they sell them to the private individual. Yeah I've heard story after story lately that the dealerships they are closing it doesn't seem that it is based so much off which are profitable... it looks like they drew names out of a hat. Dealerships that have decades under their belt and being shut off while they give the business up the street that has only been open for a couple years all the other guys business too. I'm waiting to see which ones in my town go bye bye.

Well, it does make sense to close dealerships. No reason to try to provide cars to 1000 dealerships if there is only enough business to support 800. But you're right, there is no rhyme or reason to which dealerships are getting the ax... and only a mindless Marxist idiot would get excited over a government pinhead dictating such decisions to Crysler.
