In some cases i would prefer left it alone and release the tension at other places :) When the mood are ok, then i will do some troubleshooting thing and find out the best solution, because format and reformating is not always the best solution to many of computer problem, but it do saving our time to find the real problem. It just make our hardisk suffer a little bit each time.. :)

The best practice is always do partition on our hardisk. As everyone knows, the most problem come from OS drive content, and basically is C drive.

I have programs that I run manually on a daily basis to keep it from hanging up. I also shut off programs that turn on when the computer starts up and continues to run in the background. The program I use is Ccleaner and it is a free download, it will clean your files as well as your registry. You can also adjust that start up file there in what actually starts when your computer is turned on. You can also unistall programs the thing is make sure you know the program your uninstalling that it isn't something you need for your computer, because Ccleaner lists ALL programs that is on your computer. Nothing is left out. Just do a search online and make sure it isn't one you need before uninstalling. I run defrag minimum of once a week, or daily depending on the usage of the computer each day. I also have gone through my programs and reset some to start manually instead of automatic and learned to close some back doors at the same time It is important to clean your cookies and temp files, that is what that program does. I am not promoting it, I am using it and it was recommended to me by a person that works at IBM so I am passing that on to all of you.. Have a great day

Basically, i do the same thing like you do. Yeah, hanging is not something good to computer user and speed is always an issue to discuss about. I hate to wait even for one minutes booting up.

ya computer hang ups is common and deleting cookies or temp fiels is also essential but cleaners are also available free at many sites they seldom solve the problem!

In that case you must see what programs are running on your machines. You can go to services.msc and disable unwanted services which are running. Also go for defraqgmentation of your machine. It helps if you do it once a month. If your PC still is running slow you have no option but to format it.

there are things to consider when your hangs up.. one of it is maybe your hard disk is almost full.. another is your hardware are obsolete that it causes your pc to hang up.. i would say that you upgrade your hardware.. if your pc still hangs up, i would recommend to reformat it.. try to ask other people about your problem.. good luck!

Ya it is really frustrating and irritating when your computer hangs up especially when you are in the middle of some thing really important. Well mostly the computer hangs up because there a lot of demand on your RAM by the processes running in the background, mostly the bulky anti viruses which may not be suitable for the RAM on your PC. NOD32 is a really good anti virus. It takes very little RAM while giving a super performance. If that is your anti virus then you can afford to run a lot more programs. Also disabling 'run on start up' options in many programs can give a boost to the PC performance.

Well, if this problem is not a constant, well... that i can tell you it is normal, sometimes computer crashes or get completly freeze. If it is a recurrent thing to happend, just thing what changes did you make recently, maybe theres the problem. Check your antivirus and antyspyware tools to be working propertly. But the best thing to do, is to reformat and reinstall a fresh copy of your operating system, im going to deduce youre using windows, so it is good to do this at least once a year. I hope that helps you.
