ribs are cooking in the slow cooker for today...

we have been bbqing for the last few days because our weather has turned so nice...and I am loving every minute of it... only today I have decided to give hubby a break and I am cooking ribs in my slow cooker.
Its a gorgeous day out and I dont want to turn on my stove...so I brought out my slow cooker, and I dont have to worry about it...or even think about it now until its done... 
do you cook in your slow cooker?? what are you having for dinner tonight? ..during the summer do you use the slow cooker more because you dont want to turn on your stove.... or maybe you are out more often and like to use the slow cooker more because of that.... ??

I love my slow cooker! It is so nice to have dinner ready and waiting for me when I get home from work!
I really dont use it much during the summer. I dont usually want hot meals because I am alredy hot! We eat a lot more salads. We also tend to eat cold sides with just the meat being hot.
I do love my convection oven for the summer. It puts off so much less heat into the house than the oven! It makes it perfect for when we do want a hot meal, but wouldnt be able to stand the heat!
We havent had ribs yet this year. But they are quite tasty! We always cheat. Our local Aldi's carries these amazing already cooked ribs. All you have to do is heat them up. They are tender and fall off the bone every time!
Tonight we arent having dinner. LOL. My husband has class, so he will grab something from the frige. I had a HUGE lunch, so I will probably just have a small snack!

I shop Aldi's too, I will have to look for the ribs... there hasnt been anything bad that we get from there.
that makes sense to eat more cold stuff during the summer... only for me with the kids we tend to do alot of playdates and I dont want to rush home and cook something so I use my slowcooker during the summer while I am gone alot more.

The brand is Applegate, I think. They are like $6.99 by me. It isnt a huge package. But they are much cheaper than the grocery store. And they are better! I also like them for a quick meal because all you have to do is heat them up!
I really want to start using my slow cooker more. I might have to try it some this summer when I know I wont want to cook over a hot stove!

ok, I will look for it next week when I head there...thanks for the info on that.
its nice when you know you will be gone all day and dont want to have to cook when you get home, it is already done...LOL

how funny! i am cooking dinner in my slow cooker too because it is warm today and using the crock pot doesn't heat up the kitchen. i threw some sliced london broil in with garlic,chopped onion,sliced red potatoes,paprika,pepper and worcestershire sauce and a bay leaf in there, it smells really good, i hope it tastes good too!

same here....we are in the 880s today and I didnt want to have to bbq again --poor hubby works all day and then has to wait for the food to cook on the bbq since he does that cooking... 
it smells really good here too!! LOL

your ribs are smeling good. i don't use my slow cooker like i used to i just cook for me.i need to start using it more.

they turned out really good and we had them for left overs for a few days too....LOL
its a great option if you do a lot of running during the summer days... you can cook everything in the morning and when you get home dinner is done!! I use mine more in the summer time... I dont want to turn on the stove...LOL
