I'm a college student and I want to travel the world spending very little

I want to see the world, visit places like Israel, India, Bangkok, London, etc..., you know, like the typical naive college student that I am. However, a problem arises, money. Actually getting to the countries is an issue, with some flights reaching over 15 grand. Are there any resources that offer college students, like myself, discounts on flights for next to nothing? I have no problem working or volunteering in some of the countries if that could help me.

I suggest you get an International student Identity Card and you could buy that off the Internet. Student travel agents can offer some great value air fares. I know that the Internet has sites like Cheap Flights and that will show you which the cheapest air fares are. I suggest that you become a member of the Youth Hostel Association and or the VIP Backpackers. Then you could stay in dorms in youth or backpacker hostels. Camping in your own tent, if that is allowed, is the cheapest sort of accommodation. You could work your way around the world. When I was 20 years old I got a working holiday visa for Australia. Volunteering in poor countries is an excellent idea. It is worth remembering some countries are cheap, some medium and some expensive. Traveling overland in some areas is an option. India and Thailand would be quite cheap, Israel cheap to medium and London medium to expensive. There is a book called Work your Way Around the World which you would really find useful. Good luck and happy traveling.

How about you see Israel first then get a boat to Cyprus and then Greece. You could get a train pass and see as much of Europe as possible in one month. Then you could reach London. After a while there you could get a cheap flight to Delhi then you could get a short flight to Bangkok.

Yep, if you wanted to go around the world without spending then you could be a government volunteer or a missionary that if you like. Or maybe you have skills that you can used to explore the world. like if you can excel in a certain sports that you can join in olympics.. its just a wild suggestions.. Anyway if you want to achieve your dream then you must work for it.. who knows...?

You can join international contests and when you win it'll be your chance to travel ;) You can also apply for free scholarship in embassies. In my country, the Japan Embassy offers international scholarship every summer and if you get qualified you'll be given monthly budget and everything for free. You can also apply for international scholarships only for research.
