Ok, so there is this really weird thing that happened a few days ago, I actually saw someone wearing a belt in public! Like, taking her belt out of her handbag, and putting it on and buckling it! That is abit too unladylike for me! For goodness sake! How long do you need to wear a belt? A minute? Cant you wear it first before leaving the house? I even feel awkward wearing a belt in front of my BROTHERS! I would DIE of embarrassment wearing it in front of a train full of people! What do you guys think? Is it weird wearing a belt in public? Or is it me overanalyzing things as usual?

Putting on a belt in public isn't a bad thing. I would think that if my pants were starting to fall down I'd want to take the belt out of my purse. I've had a belt in my purse before because I've taken it off in public. It's not really call for anything bad, it's merely making sure your pants don't fall off, or that your properly suited for work or what have you.

My husband left his belt in Arizona, so he found an old cable internet cable from my computer, wrapped that around his waste a couple of times in the belt loops of his pants, and tied it in front. haha Yes he goes out like that. I call it his "geek belt." He's a skinny guy, and his pants will fall down if he doesn't hold onto them. LOL

Wearing a belt in public? I see people, male and female, wearing belts all the time. I'm a bit confused as to why you think it's strange. You ARE talking about the things that hold our pants up or are used as a fashion accessory, right? I've seen a LOT of younger people whom I'd LOVE to hand a belt to and say, "Put this on... NOW, before your pants fall off!" I wouldn't have a problem putting a belt on in public if I thought I needed one and hadn't realized it before leaving the house. Maybe this gal didn't have time to put the belt on before she left her home. Stuffing a belt in your purse takes less time than putting it on and she may not have had a moment to spare. I worked with a woman once who did something similar, only backwards. She took a belt off once she got to work, then stuffed it in her purse. We all asked why she did that and her answer was that her husband gave her that belt and was so proud of himself for picking it out, so she wore it when she was around him, but confided in us that she really hated that belt and would take it off when her husband wasn't around. She said that's the secret to a happy marriage.

People like her are not in small numbers.Wearing a belt openly before everybody is no doubt harmful to elegance unless something is wrong with her belt ,for example, broken. If that,It is pardonable.

i never done this before... and i never see a woman doing this in public either... but if i have to do it because i am in a rush, i will do it... i don't think that there is anything wrong with it... it is a bit unladylike and embarrassing but i had seen many things worst than that... for example, women walking in the city shopping with a bikini during summer... i think it is more embarrassing than wearing a belt in the public... take care and have a nice day...

Might be that she thought that whatever she was wearing would stay up without a belt, but put one in her bag just in case... Then she realised that it was not going to stay up, so she whipped out the belt and put it on, thus everting disaster.

Maybe she forgot to wear her belt when she were in here house and late to remember or she can feel that her pants is loose to her body.

Perhaps she grabbed the belt at the last minute on the way out of the door and then realized she still hadn't put it on yet. It does seem rather odd though.

Hmmm...I'm having a hard time understanding why it's so embarrassing to wear a belt in public? I see hundreds of people every day wearing belts. Heck, I wear belts a lot, not only for decoration (mostly), but on occasion if my pants are too big. And I've even put my belt on in public before (mostly while walking across a deserted campus to an 8am class). That only happens when I'm running late and don't have time to throw it on before I have to leave, though. But I still don't see why anyone should be ashamed to wear them out in public?

Maybe she was running late for the train and realized that she needed a belt. I doubt she put it on just to wear it on the train. I am forever forgetting things and having to do them in public at the last minute. A belt is just used to hold your pants up so I am not sure why you would feel awkward wearing a belt in front of men. I imagine it has something to do with different cultures or the ways we are brought up. To each his own.
