No, I am not talking about people who are mistaken for someone else and sent to prison after being tried when they were actually innocent.
I am talking about arresting and jailing people who have committed NO crime; and, "detaining" them indefinately as a "preventive measure".
That is the latest proposal from President Obama. If someone believes a person MIGHT be a threat to national security SOME DAY and MIGHT pose a terrorist threat SOME DAY; then, they can be "detained" indefinately without any charges or even a trial.

All the details haven't been worked out yet; but, this is one of the first steps a "dictator in the making" would want to have available. No crime committed, no proof needed, no trials or lawyers. Just an unknown "someone" stating that a person is a "potential threat" and you can lock up anyone who disagrees with you and throw away the key!
For a person who has SWORN to uphold the US Constitution to even consider this violation of our constitutional rights demonstrates that Obama has NO HONOR and cannot be trusted with the authority of the position he was elected into.

I see the good intentions of what he wants to do and I think it isn't that the main idea is bad - it is just how they are going about doing it. There are many people out there that raise red flags and I can see detaining them, but there would have to be some time period to where they would have to be released and then there would have to be something said that was like you can't be re detained and what not. The time period should be short - no longer than a month - and then if proof wasn't brought up that would show a real serious threat then let them go, otherwise a trial needs to start right then and there.

You are quick to believe that all the small signs are going to be considered red flags - for me there are major signs out there that a person can be considered a huge threat to the security of our country and at that point I see no problem locking them up to actually be able to do an investigation without them being able to run.
I'm saying for the red flags like joining anti-american groups or having contact with people who are known to be in terrorist groups etc. If there is someone going around saying they want to bomb a city then yes by all means lock them up, because guess what, if you don't and they kill a few thousand people what are you going to do then? Say oh well?
And I never said to use it on kids and people of the like. I can see this being used for terrorist purposes only pretty much.
