This news came to me this morning after it being a secret for apparently, quite some time. My Grandmother is in heart failure and this has been a slow process over the last few months. My Grandfather has not told anyone that he has any symptoms. He was scheduled in for blood work for gout and stumbled across this. His prostate is double in size and he says that there is no way he would go in for surgery. All this while my Grandmother doesn't understand why he keeps leaving for the doctor..I am not sure how I feel about this. I found out about my Grandmother being much worse yesterday with very swollen legs and low functioning heart and Grandpa today...Ugh, I am so sad right now.

I am so sorry that this has happened to your grandparents. Right now, I know that you feel very down, upset and helpless. Is there any cure or help on the way? I know Prostate Cancer and by the way, is your Grandpa at the early stages or advanced? You must be strong for them, no matter what. Keep us posted, my friend and think of your health and try not to show your sadness in front of them. Make them happy and slowly, look for any possible solutions.

Thank you for your reply:) We are not exactly sure what they can do. His prostate has doubled in size, I need to do some research. I know that he will not have it removed with surgery; I know radiation treatment is an option. We also have to wait on his echocardiogram to see how it comes back.

You are so welcome. Why doesn't he want the surgery? Did doctors say how successful this operation might be? Is there any way to coax him into it, or he's totally adamant about it.
