I'm in college and we aren't technical suppose to be painting our townhouse but we've decided to keep it for two years and considering we want it to feel like home and not a big dorm room we're going to paint the rooms and then just repaint them in 2 years. It is going to be pretty expense to repaint them back, but right now we're going to places like Duron Paint where you can get paint they messed up the tint on for like 25 cents a gallon.
So since its hard to find more than 2 gallons of the same color, and most of the time its just one we've been debating what colors we are going to try to find because we know its going to be a lot of 2 walls one color, etc. or strips, or half wall designs.
The big room right now is the living room and then also the kitchen. The living room we are doing a beach type of theme and going to be like putting a big net up on the wall as the focal point and then the kitchen we're going to try to do like country house.
In order to repaint I know light colors are the best to use now so what colors do you mylotters suggest for the themes? And then what design would you go to use for the painting?

Since you're using a beach type of theme for your living room, why not use light blue or light yellow? You can paint the whole wall one color and even paint starfish, beach balls, beach umbrellas, etc. as a bottom border. Paintings here could vary. Color combinations don't matter much as light yellow and light blue go well with a lot of colors.
For your kitchen, you can do home-y colors such as beige or light brown. Pastel colors can work too. Country houses sometimes have patterned walls but wallpaper is recommended for this. For paintings, try using ones that aren't bright. Paintings of scenery work well. Avoid sunset/sunrise paintings as the colors tend to be too bright for a country house feel. Try ones that show gardens or meadows.
