Though not quite what everyone hoped Wolverine DID make money, and continues to do so, as preparation for the sequel begins are you looking forward to more?
The sequel will be referencing Wolverine's Samurai training as seen in Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 mini-series, do you think this is the right storyline to explore? If so, why? And if not, what would you like to see?

I have not read the comics of x-men. I just watched it on television when I was a kid and I can not recall if the cartoons showed that part you are referring to (the samurai training). I love the Wolverine movie although my friend said that they did some changes in the story (like in the original story Sabertooth and Wolverine are father and son while they are brothers in the movie).
I think the character of Wolverine is the most action-pack character so I think that is why it is his story that was adopted in to the movies.
I am looking forward to the sequel.

The Samurai training was never really covered in the original cartoons; Wolverine and Sabretooth's relationship has always been muddy at best throughout the entirety of the X-Men books, while it's been proven that they are in fact related it's never been clear if they were father and son or brothers and purposely left as such. Having read most of the X-books since I was a child I have to say that while Wolverine is the most known X-Men character he's not necessarily the most well loved or even well liked but I can see why his is the story that's most focused on in the movies as he's the most accessible of the group beyond original Iceman/Bobby Drake, the youngest in the original group of X-Men. Thanks for replying!

Frankly haven't read the mini-series by Claremont and Frank Miller, will try to pick it up. Are these collected in the essential wolverine volumes??
Anyways the movie wasn't that much of a hit for me. I expected a great deal from it. There were a few factors that for me were essential for it's unpopularity. Firstly it didn't stick to the comic book entirely. Secondly, the weapon-x program was way out of line.Thirdly the actors didn't justify the characters from the comic book, except for deadpool and wolverine(Logan).
My ideal sabretooth was Tyler Mane, and not Liev Schreiber.
I would love to see LARRY HAMA's version of wolverine portrayed in the sequel. The reason being that Marc Silvestri made wolverine look so awesomely cool, and the creative team did an excellent job in bringing the wild and unpredictable side of Logan.

Cool, you can collect the Claremont/Miller mini in one book so definitely check it out; while I do believe in judicious editing of book to film adaptations I agree that in some aspects the movie veered very, very far from the original for reasons that don't make any sense. However I have to disagree, Liev Schreiber IMO made a amazing Sabretooth but to their own; we'll see what happens next, do you think this set of movies will be a trilogy? If so I can see the Larry Hama version coming into play.
