What is the difference between understand and comprehend?

hi there gtserate, Wow! your question really made me think...lol Anyway, for me i think they're quite similar but according to the merriam-webster dictionary (yeah i have to go and look for the meaning..lol) TO UNDERSTAND is to accept as a fact or truth or regard as plausible without utter certainty thus to have the power of comprehension while TO COMPREHEND is to grasp the nature, significance, or meaning hope that helps.. ^_^
