Ih I knew how to groom Katie properly and actually made her look like a shih-tzu I would definitely do it myself. We take Katie to a groomers twice a year and she is sooooo good for the lady that grooms her! It isn't too too expensive ... but I see your point that if I knew how to do it, it would save us some money!

That makes sense! If Katie were older I would probably do the same, and make myself learn how to do it so that I could groom Katie myself!

If I trusted cody to be good for the groomer I might try it but since he is old now he would not be to nice and I couldn't handle him with a stranger at the groomer.

I have two miniature poodles which need daily brushing or combing. They don't moult and so their fur just keeps on growing. I used to take them to a groomer which they hated. I bought a clipper and had a go myself but it was too challenging. Now I have a groomer that visits my home every six to eight weeks. That is less stressful and not too expensive.

Oh is that the groomer that comes in a van and everything is taken care of in the van? If so I had that done once back in NY and they chopped my poor dog he had pink skin and no hair he didn't look like my dog at all. I was so upset and said never again.

We don't have a groomer here in town that will go to your house. I bet that would make a difference and make it less stressful for most dogs. My Katie is great though, she loves the groomer that we take her too! She gets so excited when we pull up to the groomer's house and she comes to the door. Katie's little tail just goes crazy, and she gives her the look of pet me pet me pet me please!

i groom my 5 month old shih tzu myself because grooming services are expensive...my only problem is in trimming the hair in between her toes and in her ears...she growls when i do it...she hates it...
