When you are dealing with your children is tough love always best? sometimes I think you need to not be tough but be loving and comforting. What kind of situations would you say tough love is not necessarily the best approach?

If you're child is having a really bad day, that would definitely not ba a good time for tough love. Small disappointments are okay. If for example, the weather report tells you that it's most likely to rain tomorrow but you promise your kids you'll take them to the park anyway. Then it rains the next day so you broke your promise because you can't take them to the park. This kind of tough love is okay as it teaches your kids that things won't always go their way and that there are some things they can't control. But you should always balance this out by reminding your kids that if they give their word, they should try their best to keep it.

I agree with you. It is important for them to understand things in this world do not always turn out the way we want them to. Thanks for your response.
