The Boy Next Door...Is Killing Animals!!!!

Okay everyone! I learned something pretty upsetting recently...and I'd like to get some opinions. My neighbor boy (who I don't think is even a teenager yet) has a bb gun and is shooting quail around our houses. He is in a large community with a lot of children, pets and people around--and he is shooting his gun. I wouldn't think that would be allowed---and my mom is going to try and talk to our community "leader" guy and see if it is and if he can stop it. My mom saw him shooting quails and she found a dead one and brought it home. Since bb guns don't do visible damage, it just looked like it was sleeping. I was holding it while my sister looked for a box-it was so pretty and soft! And it was a male so me and my mom worried that their might be a mate and/or babies missing him! AND the boys mom (not sure about the dad) knows that he is doing this! I can't believe it. So what do you guys think? do you think this is something he's allowed to do? Shooting guns around so many people...and one of my worries is he'll start shooting other animals; like bunnies, coyotes...what if he see's a cat wandering around one day and thinks, "why not?" I think he needs to be stopped!

i cant believe the mother knows and yet allows her son to continue to use his 'toy' to hurt other living things.. the mother probably thinks that they still live 'in the wild' and the son needs to know 'hunting skills' for survival ??.. some needs to speak to the whole family, i think..

glad to know that the mom is concerned about the boy's 'hobby'. let's hope she can talk some sense into the young man head & heart..

That's absolutely horrible! I would definately call a local humane society or police, even and let them know. Do you talk with his parents or anyone else that lives with him? Have you talked with them aabout this? :o

i do feel that the boy does need to be stopped.. i dont understand how come the mother doesnt stop him.. is she teaching the child to hunt for survival.. like living in the woods?.. 'killing' for food / survival is one thing.. but killing for fun/sport.. totally unacceptable - to me, that is.. if the boy is not made to understand that point.. it is scary to think that he'll grow up thinking it is okay to harm small animals.

I personally think that if there is a law against his acts ...then you should complain to the concerned authority and if there is no law preventing him from doing what he is doing that means its legal and you should not hinder. But if you truely care for those animals you can do something....Trying to convince the chidld into not killing the animals won't help as you told that he is young. You can request her mom...if that doesn't helps..i have an idea.. When he is shooting you can go near...and when he fires pretend that he mis-fired and shot you. Be careful don't really get shot...that may scare him and help...silly but can be useful.....

He definitely needs to be stopped. I have seen many documentaries on psychopaths and they always mention how the person would kill animals when they were young. I don't feel this is healthy for him to just kill these poor animals and the parent's should stop him or someone else to stop him. Not only are the animals in danger but you, your family, friends and anyone who lives close by can accidentally get injured and they will probably blame the parents so if the parent's are at least concerned, they should stop him. Go an speak to your community leader on how to handle this as well. I don't even want to know what he's capable of when he's older. Trust me, this needs to be stopped now! Good Luck and let us know what happens.

That is how serial killers start! They start with small animals and move up to larger animals for the thrill and then to people for a bigger challenge. He needs to be stopped now. If the communty leader won't step in, call the local police. Like you said, there are kids, people and pets around. Please don't let this go until he is stopped. The life you save could be your own or your pet's.
