How did you know about God?

I'm sure each of us has stories of how did you first knew about God. Mine was different. I was really down those days.. my grades were poor, i broke up with my one year relationship with my boyfriend, my grandmother died, we moved to a new place, our family finances went down.. All those things happened at the same time and that was when I learned a lot about faith and God. Surely trials will come your way not because God wants to test you, but because you need to learn a lot about faith. How about you? What's your story?

Of course I don't :) I don't really care about one's religion. I believe what matters is that you praise the same God. :) thanks for the response and take care

I knew about GOD when i was studying 3rd grade from my father. My father used to teach me who is god and what is the role of him . I came to believe GOD strongly , when i was in tenth grade only.

Being born a HIndu, I was of course surrounded by Gods and Goddesses right from childhood and I kind of enjoyed the festivals and rituals attached to religion..so I knew there was God and he/she had to be worshipped. However, many years back I had gone on a trekking trip to the himalayas. There at one particular moment when I was alone from the group, I suddenly had a very peculiar feeling inside me. There I was standing on a ledge, with the snow white mountains around me, the pristine blue sky above and the barren landscape below...all glowing golden in the sun and I dont know how or why but I felt a divine presence all around me. Its really an inexplicable feeling, no words can describe what I felt but I was so sure of actually feeling God all around me....something so huge, so all-encompassing, so loving and so protecting I was already feeling very much a part of it. It was the first time I felt God and understood the futility of worshipping God thru idols or in any buildings. Since then, I have been more towards spirituality than practising my religion actively.

I came to know about god from my parens when I was a kid. My grandparents enlightened by belief. After that I started experiencing god's presence in my everyday life. He is the person to throw all my worries and tensions and source that provides confidence and support to me in all my deeds.

Situations that come to us unknowingly is the only chance that we needed God. But in fact we should be needing God in our everyday living. My family have been in the times that our business got down, all the people talks about my family is bad, suddenly its only that time that we seek God. In events like that I have spoken to myself and ask God for anything to get my family's reputation and living will be back. Those days never came in my prayers but I never noticed a great change that made me think it was it. We got back to the old living style but seems my family began gaining what we needed for. We went back to farming and seems I love it and I miss it as it was my younger days. Order in the family ties have began to cling back to each of us and respecting each other was so great than it was before.

I learned from my parents' lax Christianity. I was never baptized, though, and I never really felt like I TRULY was Christian. And that's probably why I don't really believe in God today; I'm a very logical person and it just doesn't make SENSE to me; and I don't have the kind of faith that believers do. I don't mind though, it doesn't make me feel like any less of a person - and shame on anyone who thinks I am because of my lack of beliefs.

As long as I can remember, Jesus has been a central part of my family. So to me, I have always known of His love for me, and of the sacrifice that He made by dying on the cross in my place for my sin. I am very grateful that I was brought up with Him as my God, my savior and my Lord.
