So I was reading though the Rachel Ray magizne and found a great way to make pasta salad. Usually I make it like my mom makes it or anyone else I know but this is a great change at least I think so. So I'll tell you how I usually make it then tell you how Rachel Ray makes it and tell me are you like me or her??? If you make it different how so? Would you try either of these? What would you modify? ME: Pound of Bow Tie pasta Half a bottle of Italian dressing Hand full of cut up tomatoes 1 or 2 green and red peppers Hand full of cube cheese Black and green olives combine cooked pasta, tomatoes, peppers, cheese, olives toss and add dressing put in fridge for and hour before serving. Rachel Ray: 1 pound of bowtie pasta Grated peel and juice of 1 lemon 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil Salt and Peper 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped 2 cups torn arugula 4 hard boiled eggs, chopped 1/2 cup parmesan cheese 1/2 cup pine nuts 1/2 cup chopped fresh dill Make pasta In a small bowl, combine the lemon peel lemon juice and EVOO with salt and pepper Large bowl mix together pasta bell pepper arugula eggs parmesan pine nuts and dill add lemon dressing and toss.

I use both red and green usually for me its not just about taste but about color and texture.

I don't normally make it. I will eat it when others make it though. I have a bottle of creamy Italian dressing that I was thinking about using to make some pasta salad soon though. I am out of olives though. I gotta go buy some to make it.

You dont have to use olives. Thats the great part about pasta salad you can put just about anything in it. I have made it a million different ways. I once used left over pasta and added the left over (fresh still crispy) green beans, shredded carrots and the few cherry tomatoes I had. Then I threw in a few banana peppers a few chuncks of cheese and left over ham chunked of course. It was a quick easy meal that got rid of all my left overs at once!

I would probably use a combination of both recipes, but I prefer a creamy dressing on pasta. Cheese sounds good, as do tomatoes and olives, but so does hard boiled eggs. Pine nuts are too expensive, but I might use chopped walnuts. Bell peppers sound good, too. Hmmm. Maybe I'm just hungry!

I love pasta salad! Mmmm. I do somewhat of a combination between the too. I hate when it is overloaded with Italian dressing! I will often add some Italian dressing mixed with olive oil. That way you still get the flavor. Everything is still coated, but it isnt too much. Im not sure how I feel about the lemon juice in the pasta salad. I guess I would have to try it to find out!

I have tried a lemon juice olive oil dressing before and it was really good. Although including with the lemon juice and EVOO was Italian seasing. Honestly I make my own Italian dressing so there is always a little more oil then in what you buy at a store. The Lemon juice recipie (below) I tried was for bread I have used it on chicken too and it was really good! 5 tablespoons EVOO 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon Italian seasing drizzle over half inch cuts of bagget bread heat and serve! You can add garlic if you would like. We added diced tomatoes and thickly sliced motzerilla cheese then heated and served! WOW was it good!

I think I would probably make your version with the exception of the olives. I would use broccoli and keep the eggs in the original recipe.

Broccoli is sooo good in pasta salad. My grandmother made it the other day and she used the "california blend" frozen veggies with her pasta salad. It was SOOOO good!

both sound marvelous. I tend to just use what is on hand when I make a pasta salad. I often times will put black olives in - always put peppers, tomatoes, onions, garlic. some sort of cheese also - love feta when I use torn spinach. I do like the lemon juice dressing - which is so nice and tangy it is what I use for tabouleh as well.
