How do you deal with having a boyfriend on deployment?

My boyfriend is a marine and he is being sent overseas in December. I knew when we started dating that this day would come, but the closer it gets the more I'm starting to think I cant handle it. How do you handle being apart from your significant other for 7 months on top of knowing he is in danger the entire time. Any helpful hints in dealing with this would be great.

Back in the day, again a million years ago. My boyfriend was in the army, he was far away from me. It was difficult I am not going to lie to you. We almost did not make it, in fact we did break up for a while, but we did make it in the end.
This is going to be hard on both of you, he really needs you at this point in your life and his, but you need to be honest with him and let him know how you feel.
