You can check out Catchannel.com this site is associated with Cat Fancy a very popular and well written cat magazine. It should have all the answers to you cat owning questions. I would suggest rather than getting a specific breed of cat that you go to the local animal shelter and find a cat that has the type of personality you are looking for. No cat is maintenance free, but you should try to get a kitten that is already litter box trained or as kitten can very mischievous and playful you might look into getting an older cat that has already mellowed out. I would suggest only getting a cat if you have the time and resources to properly care for the kitten or cat, they do require vet visits, food, litter, and the occasional toy. They should also receive plenty of love and attention. If you are ready to do those things for your kitty, then welcome to the wonderful world of being owned by a cat.

All my cats adopted me. Try getting one from a shelter. No breed is maintenance-free. First you should get a book about cats and read about having a cat before getting one if you have never had a pet before.

I have a cat at home, his name is Zeebaw, he is with us for nearly 5 years. When he was small he used to do his toilet nearly everywhere even if we had kept a pot with sand for him, but gradually he has learnt how to use the pot, you should put him at the specific place though he will want to go around the place and explore it, keep two bowls for him, one for water and one for food, don't give him much food, cats are very different, they can be eating all the day so give ime little from time to time, make him get used of a bath every 3 days.To raise a cat cost very little, when they are done with eating and playing their only role is to sleep maybe all the day and everywhere. So good Luck.
