some of my classmates find Pinoy movies "corny". sometimes i do too. other times they call it "baduy" or "jologs". i mean, yeah but not all. but honestly i think, pinoy movies now are just for entertainment. just for laughs, like that. they're good if you want to relax. hehe how do you find Pinoy movies? though i think about it like that, i still have a favorite one. it's 'MIla' starring maricel soriano. i am not that into drama but i guess pinoy drama movies are something worth watching.

I think it's the technology for making good movies is what we lack. Fact is one of the major reasons why Filipinos tend to watch Hollywood movies over Pinoy movies is because of the effects and everything. We seldomly see Pinoy action movies nowadays maybe because producers realize that their budget is not enough to produce a good movie such that it will catch the attention of the people. Just compare our old pinoy action movies with James Bond movies. It's a good thing that we have switched to drama, sometimes fantasy and horror, and then comedy, although comedy pinoy movies are still "corny" for most. Fortunately, they still capture the laughter of Pinoys. I prefer the teleseryes than the movies.

I dont think technology is the issue here. Sure our tech for special effects is lacking, but there are creative ways to go around some of them. Tagalog movies are just bad. Awful everything. Predictable and corny. There are roles that you see over and over and over. Recenly, I noticed that the transitions between scenes are not smooth. Its always abrupt between changes, you feel that the story halts... it isnt smooth flowing at all.

Well I guess there are times in my teen years that I got to watch Pinoy that often. But then as I grew up I suddenly shifted to watching foreign movie because they are more original and the story are pretty much interesting than our local movies. There are a few selected movies that come out that really gets my attention. I have nothing against Pinoy movies. But in fairness, lately we just have won in Cannes film fest as best director for the Film "Kinatay" I am curios what is it all about that made the foreigners chose him as best director. It just shows that our local film movies are still being appreciated by foreigners than us so we should not judge our own local film as low class or jologs or baduy because somehow our films can be compared to other international films around as quality films too.

Hello rsa101, We have the same thoughts regarding the filipino movies and foreign, but I think if we will not be given a chance to watch foreign movies it will be good for us because we will entertain more our own movie film. By the way,I'm not familiar in that movie entitled Kinatay which gives the director an award in a movie events. But even though I didn't know that It is good to hear that! Well, have a nice day RSA101.. Happy posting to you and happy earning! Good luck to our earning career!

Pinoy movies aren't so fascinating that is they always copycat stories from classic movies for some. I like to watch classic movies as they portray and act naturally rather than some pinoy movies that are over acting and not so naturally.

Good day to you technoobs, I think Filipino movies are just very simply and some part of the movie are related to other foreign movie film but you can't say that thing it's some kind of copycat to other foreign movies. Honestly speaking I am very proud to those Filipino movie because of the good effect to our country here in the Philippines. And how i wish they could have a chance to improve it better to increase the demand of the movie. Well, that's all How I wish you also appreciate the Filipino movies because they are really good! Have a nice day!

I agree.. Some of the are low quality and I find it corny or just a waste of money I love japanese movies and korean movies.. These are movies made by great minds not just because they need to finish it right away. But in fairness to Philippines we also have great movies too... Especially in the drama genre.

I am not really fond of watching Pinoy movies... because most of them... are like what you said "corny"... and there is very little originality when it comes to the story line... last pinoy movie i watched was "Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat"... and i only did that as a favor to my mother... but i remeber years ago that i would watch movies of Joyce Jimenez... not the bold kind... but those simple ones... like the one with Aga Mulach and Piolo Pascual...

I really like to watch old pinoy movies and not the new ones that show already too known actors and actresses. I mean, I have always seen them on dramas shown from those two competing networks here in our country, now they're being shown again on the big screen? With old ones, you get to see actors before that you don't or even won't see anymore now-a-days. That characteristic makes them interesting as their essence gets embedded in the films that they get shown. Rene Requestas is one for example and another one would be all known Dolphy Sure, the really old films and their quality are not as impressive compared to ones that we get to watch today but, its the actors and actresses that makes the film memorable. I guess after some time and I get to watch the films that I deemed to be not as interesting, I would find them okay.. but, seeing how much films have been shown leaning to romance, fantasy and so on with how "corny" "baduy" or "jologs" they are, I'd just be browsing titles made by independent film makers.

I'm not really a fan of Filipino movies but there are a handful of films which i think deserves the nod. Producers rely too much about star quality. They would rather invest on big name stars to casts on their film despite the fact that it doesn't fit they doesn't fit the character. That's why Philippine movie scene is not growing because producers just won't take the risk. Stories are pretty weak. They can't even come up with some well thought psychological thriller which i think isn't really heavy on the pockets of the producers as compared to too many useless out of country shoots. It's not a shoot, i call it a vacation.

I love watching Filipino movies. No matter how much people say that it's baduy or jologs, I still watch them whether in Cinemas or in DVDs. These films clearly portray much about our past, our culture, our generation. We cannot really veer away from them.

Before it was, but nowadays NO. You should watch atleast to know how the quality of pinoy movies are. The corny days of guy and pip love team in which they'll just create a lousy movie and it will become a hit. Movie productions are now making sure that the movie they're making has a very high quality with a very good script and some nice moral lessons to learn..

Hello jane9147, good day to you. Here in our country Philippines watching Pinoy movies increase our movie industry together with the our economy. Even though some movies are what you are saying it is still go because the good effect that it give to the watchers or those people. Honestly speaking when I was in the age of 11 years old i really love Filipino movies after going out the school because at that time I really enjoy the movie and in entertains me alot. In my own opinion the reason why I never feel boredom because of the word no choice. But now that I am in the right age which is in the 18 years old, I already seen some foreign movies which I enjoy more because of it's special effects. For that reason you will feel more comfortable in those kinds of movie. But if our country will try very hard to increase the quality of the movie, there would be a great chance for us to enter the movie in to those internation movie event that will also increase our economy. By the way, I forgot to mention that those comedy show in the Philippines was really good and just like other people they more laugh in the comedy of movie show of the Filipino because they appreciate it very good. Well, that's all the end of my response here in your discussion. Happy posting and happy earning to all of us! good day!

Honestly, I don't like watching pinoy movies. Maybe for these reasons, maybe because of the fact that since my childhood, I have been fascinated with Hollywood movies. It's special effects most especially. And with the early age of Cable television here in Tacloban City, way back in the 90's, I have been greatly exposed with HBO, Star movies, Cinemax maybe it also influenced my preferences in watching movies. And to date, I think I will still focus myself watching those channels because it is the one that I am paying for in our cable tv bills. Without those channels, maybe I will try watching pinoy movies.
