I always try to find where the mice are coming into the house and seal the hole, first off. Tin of any kind they will not chew through. For mice already there, poison is out. They'll crawl off somewhere to die and smell awful. Traps baited with a dab of peanut butter work better than cheese. Good luck! Mice are yuck, yes??

Perhaps you could put wire or mesh screen over the vent? Again, good luck. Karen

I agree, mouse traps. If you don't like mouse traps, another good way is to take a 5 gallon bucket (you can buy them at the hardware store). Prop a plank of wood next to it so the mice can go up the wood into the bucket. Now place a big blob of peanut butter inside at the bottom of the bucket. The mice will crawl up the wood to get into the bucket to eat the peanut butter and won't be able to get out. Now you can slap the lid on it and take them to your local pet store and see if they'll accept them. If not, take them for a ride far, far away from your house and let them loose.

You must have plenty of experiences about this and you descible this so precise step by step. Frankly speaking, the mouse trap is difficult to attain and it may cause some accident.Besides,i don't wanna to hear of the scream of the mouse when they will be get caught. Thank you for your suggestions.I'll have a try.

My sister lives out in the country and has gotten her fair share of mice in the house from time to time. We found they like peanut butter the best. I noticed someone suggested finding where the mice are coming in at and sealing it up, that worked for my sister as well. You could seal all around the vent and cross your fingers that they don't come in *through* the vent! I know the 5 gallon bucket seems pretty big but you need something tall enough where they can't get out. Good luck to you, I hope you get rid of your mice problem!

Buy a fly trap - the sticky sheets? Put a bit of cheese or whatever food that attracts your mouse. You'll be sure to catch it or one of its relatives :D I think this is the safest way to get rid of that mouse problem - and it's also not costly. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

It's a good idea, but i even don't which to buy it from. Besides,i'm so worry about someone in my house get caught before the mouse do,because there are several people who live in my house. Thank you all the same, although the mouse in my house doesn't think so.haha

I had the same problem a few years ago, although I had a cat who was scared of mice:)! Probably the best and most humane way would be to place a large tall container in a location close to where you have observed the mouse and place in some type of food. The container will need to be quite high, mice are really agile and some can jump really high. You could place it next to a bookshelf or pile some books up beside it so it can climb up to the opening. Makesure the book covers are disinfected afterwards. Another trick that I heard about when trying to solve my problem was that you could capture mice by using a glass milk bottle with some food placed inside. Apparently the curved neck of the glass is suppose to be too slippery for mice to climb out of. This can also be placed under furniture so it is easier for the mouse to access. I used a tall plastic bin with some peanuts and seeds in the bottom, and that seemed to do the trick. The glass milk bottle trick is just something else I have heard about, but I am not sure how effective it is. Good luck with it anyway.

The funny thing about that cat was that when it came to something bigger than him he would get really defensive and would really stand his ground and scare it away. I remeber once when my cat was sitting outside in the front, the neighbour's big dog had got out of their garden and went right up to him. My cat just stood up, puffed up his fur and chased the dog down the street:)! It was really strange that he found tiny things like mice so scary when he would take on big dogs. Fortunately, only the dog's pride was hurt and it never did come in our garden again!:) Hope my advice helps anyway. All the best.
