Do you afraid to travel alone to a foreign country?

So, can you travel alone to a foreign country? where is the place you are not familiar with? If on business demand, I would be forced to travel alone there. If not, I rather ask a couple of good friends with me, rather just by myself. I just can't stand to go to a strange place, where I don't speak their languages, and I don't really know what to do in some situations.

Hi, clorissa123. I would go along with someone that was fluent in the language of my destination. I would hate to go without being able to understand the foreign language. I would feel really lost and out of place. A traveling companion is something that would be beneficial to me.

Absolutely yes, I even use to get afraid to go to a different state lonely. Because of new people, new state, new activities, makes me to get odd about that place..

I ever traveled alone once to Singapore because my cousin sister will be meeting me there, the next day. Actually, i am just reaching Singapore, a few hours earlier than her. Since Singaporeans can speak quite well in English, so that had not been any problem for me to communicate with them. So, i went around Singapore shopping mall, to buy some gifts for my family before i meet my cousin sister. I spend my tie go shopping to free myself from sitting boring inside the hotel, waiting for my cousin sister to arrive. If to other countries, where i can't understand their language, then i think i won't be as comfortable as now. So, i prefer to go travelling to other countries with my friends or family or friends, as well..

clorissa as it is that on visiting a foreign island or country one is afraid from the innerside as you come accross a large number of unknown people and you cannot say whos like good or bad and you dont know the place so well?

Everyone does have that feeling especially for first timers like me. There would be a lot of things that would be in your mind. It would be so easy to adjust on things which you love to do and doesn't.

I have traveled around Europe by train on my own when I was 18 years old. I didn't feel afraid and met friendly people, locals and other travelers. I stayed in youth hostels where I met people of various different nationalities. I was lucky that I got some help from a German speaker when I was in Hungary. I have faced some problems with the language barrier but have found people are kind and helpful when that occurs. I have been to the USA, Mexico, Belize, Israel, Jordan, the Maldives, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Samoa on my own. Good quality travel guide books and maps help me know my way around a city. These days I travel with my toddler son but in the past when I was younger I very much enjoyed traveling alone.

I havent travel alone to foreign country or I havent been there. But if in case I'll be given a chance to go there alone. I think I wont be afraid specially if I have lots of money. But traveling along with just enough money in pocket is really not comfortable to do. It better to know that there's someone with you when you get short of cash. Just in case it happen.

I am a seasoned traveler. I am not afraid to travel alone to a foreign country, but in practice, I've not done so yet. I usually have at least a traveling companion with me, more for company than anything else. I will feel quite bored being alone in a foreign land. At least if I travel in a group or with another person, we can do things together, spend time chatting, make joint decisions and help each other. I feel a trip will be more enjoyable this way.

No, I'm not! I'd love to go backpacking around the world if time and resources permit. I guess my confidence was developed when I went abroad to study when I was just 16.

Sometimes it's just not possible to have friends or relatives along when traveling alone. For one, who's going to pay for their fares? If I'm required to travel alone (usually on business), I will make sure that I'm prepared with the necessary information and contact details. If I don't speak the local languages, I'll have to make sure that I've someone over there who will be my interpreter/guide. However, I'll do all these only if I'm going on a business trip. If it's for a vacation, then I don't think I would travel alone; I would rather stay home!

I can travel alone in America where they speak English- no problem. It's when there is a language barrier that I struggle. I hate being around people who I can't communicate with, so being alone in a country where I cannot speak the language is always a little bit daunting and scary for me. But, I will travel my own country, and america, and would quite happily travel to australia on my own as well. As long as the language is the same, I am happy! Oh, and I can speak just about enough Spanish to get me by over there as well.

I've done it...and it's not as scary as others may think. You can find friends along your way, and you can always find someone who speaks English. Also, it can be fun exploring the place alone. This really depends though. Because if you travelled in a limited time, you wouldn't want to spend the whole time, asking folks about which direction to go. On the other hand, if it's a long past time travelling...then, I don't mind travelling alone.

No, I'm not afraid to go to another country alone. In fact, I did it a few times already, I went to Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei alone. It was a great experience because I meet some nice local people and get along with them very well. I speak English with them most of the time, it's easier rather than trying to understand their native language.
