I cannot believe it. We are having a new pool made at work and it has been going quite well - just the rain that held us up. The Management Board chose the design of the tiles to be put on the step of the pool. I showed the foreman the design that was to be implemented. I expressly told him that it was not my design but this is the design chosen by the Mangement Board and that it was to be done that way. I just checked and the design is wrong. The foreman looked me striaght in the eye and told me that his design was better. I told him that the tiles would have to be dug up and re done the way that I showed him. He still insisted that his design is better. I could not believe it. It took all my patience to tell himn to remove the tiles and do it the way he had been told. We are now completely off schedule. There is nothing wrong with his design but it has to be done in the way that was approved. Have any workman done anything like this to you? A half day has now been wasted.

Man, that guys sure has a high opinion of himself. I hope he is getting paid by the job not by the hour. If he is getting paid by the hour then I think he should be docked for the time he wasted.

No, he's being paid by the job. But he will be responsible for the cost of materials

Nope....but they started the work and didn't come back for almost two weeks...in the mean time my house was basically left wide open as they took off the big basement door and just threw a tarp over it......so anyone could just walk in my house if they lifted the tarp...and when they left they took one of my big extention cords...needless to say I would never have them back again.

boy what arrogance on his part, he should be reprimanded for that. Well I do not have any work experience for that. And I never had any repairs in the apartments that I live in that require me to give the instructions, it was always the landlord to do that.

I would think that he could get fired over that. It was the management's decision over a design and if he felt the design was better he should have expressed why he did, and did so before he laid it out. If it's better for reasons such as no water getting in and mildew, etc, then he should have expressed that. Now it's cost not just a half day but money, and I think it's the right of this guys company to pay it since he didn't follow orders.

I've told the company that they have to foor th bill for the extrra tiles etc. It weas just so annoying as today is fair and we have had so much rain that put us behind schedule. he just thought that his way was better. Arrogant really - as he had no right to alter the design.

Then he also gets me into trouble as my boss wants to know why I wasn't out there the whole time supervising. I am not a contractor and cannot stay out in the sun when it is over 90 degrees hot! This time last year I was recovering from skin cancer. All I am requitred to do is to see thatt he work scheduled for weach day is completed.
