I have an eeepc 4g surf. I had it on for 13 weeks. It only uses 26 watts per hour, so its not that bad. It ran super stable, I had an nlited install of xp on it. I could have gone waaay longer, but I wanted to put linux on it. The reason I think it was able to maintain such a stable, looong uptime is because of the solid state drive in it.

Mac product is very good for graphic designer. Why do you keep it for 13 weeks kelpie? you're working on something or just do it for nothing? :)

There is a couple of reasons: a. Despite it being pretty quick at rebooting, I hate doing it, b. It was me "testing" the waters and pushing the limits. I'm a power user of sorts in that I've made a 400mhz pentium ii with 384mb of ram, 32mb video card, soundblaster pci 64, with a 20gb harddrive render 4000x3000 images in terragen long ago. By my eeepc being able to stay on for 13 weeks and still have the functionality it had the first week, it tells me that there is more to the celeron and the intel 915 in there than meets the eye. Because I wasnt just browsing the net with it. I was watching videos, bringing it to a constant 40 to 100% CPU load, which also made the temps rise from the usual 59c to 65c. I was using a portable version of photoshop cs3, running a heavily used IRC bot in mIRC (which is an instable IRC client to begin with). I also had it overclocked to 1008.11mhz all this time. And yet it never froze, never bsod'd, it just multi tasked to the best of its ability and still chugged along. That's why I didn't care to push it past 13 weeks and decided to install linux. There was nothing more for me to see, it already proved itself worthy.

For desktop, at home, I once left it on for about a week, that is absolutely nothing wrong doing so but for laptop, it might cause some damage because of the heat generated from the CPU, but computers now a days are pretty good so I don't see a problem either. At my work, it's 24/7 and still performs well even though we get a new computer every 2 years. Cheers!

My desktop is usually on all of the time. I usually only shut it down or restart it when I get updates, or it acts up.
