Selling Home Made Items

Hi I am looking to make some extra money by selling some things that I've made. I crochet a lot and I'm learning how to make different soaps and bath crystals and whatnot. I wanted to start to sell things online but I have noticed that on ebay not many home made items have bids. Does anyone have any tips?

You could try ECrater, or, if you know how, you could try to set up your own website. I'm also trying to sell homemade things online (of course mine are the pinatas you see there on my avatar, I want to make them to look sort of like people) Good Luck, I hope it works out for you.

Thanks :-) I was just searching online and I saw a site called Etsy. So maybe I will look into that as well. I definitely want to do a craft show sometime but down in S. Florida there aren't many. I grew up in CT and there seemed to flea markets and craft shows at least once a month during the spring/summer/fall. I miss those a lot.

A site like Etsy but not Etsy is what it sounds like you are looking for. Etsy would be perfect it wasn't for it's "$0.20" non-refundable listing fees. I think it was non-refundable anyways. Basically you post something up and if noone buys it you can't relist it for free. I think you have to keep paying. Kind of lame and kind of destroys the site in itself because I saw some pretty interesting stuff but because of the listing fees people skyrocket their prices. You also had to pay some other sort of fee I think 3.5% of what you make off of it goes to them which also eats into your profits. Sooo, if I come across something that is not Etsy but similar i'll try to let you know. However this site, powersellersunite.com should help you out to find other "potential" auction sites. Hope this helps and good luck to you. The only other suggestion I can think of is to make your own site but it's tough if you don't know a thing about SEO. If you're interested in your own site and want some SEO pointers I can help you out if you want for free.

ecrater, wigix, or etsy I believe etsy is more craft oriented.
